Founded in 2022 by Dr Helen Jones, The Art Doctor UK has quickly become one of Cheshire’s most trusted and highest-rated independent art education businesses, proudly holding a 5-star Google rating, welcoming hundreds of returning learners, and achieving Gold Status from another course provider in June 2024 in recognition of consistently outstanding learner experiences.

The name The Art Doctor is far more than just a brand. As the founder holds a doctorate in art education, Helen has long been affectionately known as an “Art Doctor.” More importantly, she firmly believes that while art can transform what we create, art can also doctor us… building confidence, supporting wellbeing, reducing stress, bringing people together, and helping people rediscover creativity at every stage of life. That philosophy sits at the heart of everything The Art Doctor UK stands for.

What began as one educator’s vision to make high-quality art education more accessible has rapidly grown into a thriving creative community, delivering premium art workshops, regular courses, private events, school partnerships, corporate experiences, teacher CPD, children’s clubs, holiday camps, and specialist creative experiences across Chester, Cheshire, North Wales, and beyond.

Today, Dr Helen Jones and her husband, Iain Jones, lead the business together, bringing over 25 years of combined professional experience across art education, design, business, and customer experience.

About Dr Helen Jones

Helen has dedicated her life to art, education, and creativity.

A highly qualified artist, educator, examiner, lecturer, keynote speaker, and business founder, Helen studied Art and Design for over a decade at the University of Chester, earning:

BA (Hons) in Art and Design

MA in Creativity for the Professions

PGCE

Doctor of Education (EdD)

With nearly two decades of teaching experience since 2007, Helen has taught art across primary, secondary, sixth form, higher education, adult education, community settings, and international educational settings overseas.

In 2021, Helen was invited back to the University of Chester as Senior Lecturer and Subject Leader of Art and Design on the PGCE programme, where she supports and mentors the next generation of art teachers.

Alongside her university leadership, Helen is an experienced AQA examiner, moderator, and Lead Moderator, has also worked with Eduqas/WJEC, delivers keynote teacher training nationally, and has built a reputation for combining academic excellence with warm, inspiring, down-to-earth teaching.

Whether working with complete beginners, aspiring artists, children, families, schools, or experienced creatives, Helen is passionate about helping people unlock confidence, technical skill, and creative joy.
