On the hunt for some creative things to do in London? Or maybe you want a relaxing and fun group activity for you and your pals? Come along to this hands-on pottery class where you can make your own clay creations.

Your expert teacher from Potters Thumb will guide you through the art of pottery making in a friendly and supportive environment. You'll be welcomed into the Cass Art studio in Islington as you meet up with fellow creatives like you or enjoy some time with your loved ones before diving hands first into the cool clay.

Watch the demonstrations from your teacher to learn how to build a bowl or cup with clay tube and learn about surface patterns, mark-making and more. Then you'll get to explore those techniques yourself.

This pottery-making class is perfect for beginners who want to build new skills or just have fun making their own pottery. It's also a great chance for more experienced pottery fans to develop what they can do. You'll learn how to understand the tolerances of clay, basic principles to follow so your creativity can run free and how to build safely whether you're making something function or sculptural.

There will also be materials available for you to purchase so you can continue your pottery making journey at home!

Included in the price of this class, is a pint and pizza from Crate Brewery. Once you're all done crafting your pots, you will receive a redeemable ticket for your tasty treats.

Please note:The pots you create will need a few days to dry after the firing process. You can pick them up a few days later or we can post them to you at an extra cost. You can let your teacher know if you'd like to use this service during your pottery class.

Potters Thumb is a pottery studio based at the White Building in Hackney Wick. Founded by Mark Ciavola six years ago and originally based in Brighton, our new home in London is a fully functional, multi-use studio space offering five potters wheels, a pug mill, handbuilding facilities and kiln services.

Wanting to spread his love for ceramics, Mark founded Potters Thumb to make his work available to all those who appreciate hand thrown and hand made ceramic sculptures. With the new facilities, Potters Thumb can now also share the joy of clay work with others - whether you're a novice looking to get your hands mucky in one of our introductory classes, or a practiced ceramicist looking for a studio space to call home. Potters Thumb can offer something for everyone.
