No previous experience or knowledge required. Everyone is welcome!
What to bring
I recommend bringing an apron or wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. While stained glass isn’t overly messy, we do use some chemicals that could stain, so it's better to play it safe! You can also bring your own protective gear (gloves, goggles, masks) if you would prefer to use your own.
Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea, birthday or hen do.

This experience would also be a unique gift for her, gift for mum, Xmas gift or gift for couples.

FAQ

Can I make any design?
I’ll have a selection of designs for you to choose from on the day that are perfect for all skill levels and can be made within the time we have. I rotate these designs every few months so if you have been to a workshop before there will be new designs to choose from. However, if you have your heart set on creating your own design, I’m happy to try and accommodate it! Just drop me a message beforehand so we can ensure your design is suitable for the copper foiling method and can be completed within the workshop time.
Will there be time for breaks?
Yes! There are a lot of steps in stained glass making so we have a lot to get through but you’re welcome to take a break whenever you need. Snacks and hot drinks will be available for purchase from the venue. You can also bring your own and there are also some small shops nearby.
Is this workshop suitable for vegans?
Yes, absolutely! I don’t use animal tallow in my work or in the workshop, so everything is completely vegan-friendly.

We learnt loads and are chuffed with our glass animals!
  • 5/5 from Phil West, attended Apr 2026: Thoroughly enjoyed our stained glass experience as it was something completely new for us. Heather was a fantastic teacher, keeping us on track throughout the afternoon. The process was well explained, and safety was taken seriously. The space itself was a good size, not too small that it felt cramped, and not too big that there was no atmosphere - a perfect mix! Given the scope of possibilities, it is one of the few experiences we have done that we both agreed we'd be eager to do again in the future :)

  • 5/5 from Millie Martin, attended Sep 2025: We (a group of four) had this class as a joint birthday gift in early september - it was absolutely perfect! Heather is the perfect instructer for something so tricky. She was charming and funny, offering clear intructions for each task and helped when needed without judgement or overbearance. We had actually booked as individuals despite being a group, and as such had one stranger attending alongside. While we all got on, Heather perfectly balanced her attention and made sure they were included as much as we. (Meaning I do reccomend going alone if inclined, you'll be in very good hands.) We adored her attiude and obvious love of her craft, which bolstered our confidences and soothed any nerves. As a result, we all made lovely pieces we are proud of. I could not reccomend this class more!
  • 5/5 from William Dent, attended Sep 2025: Heather was the most approachable, friendly, and informative teacher I’ve ever had. 10/10 this class is worth it!!
  • 5/5 from Hayley Cotton, attended Aug 2025: The course was a great introduction into stained glass covering all the stages to create the suncatcher. Heather is really welcoming and patient, it's a thoughtfully planned course, keeping the pace moving along, whilst still responsive to individual working speeds. The room is lovely and light, with all tools set up and a wide choice of glass to select from, there's also a small and friendly cafe on-site with great coffee. Highly recommend this course - thanks Heather!
  • 5/5 from Claire Cassidy, attended Aug 2025: A fabulous class as an introduction to Staines class decorations. Heather was so knowledgeable, helpful and supportive and made the session so good. There were just 6 of us so a really nice number to ensure personal help and chat amongst us, Heather was great to help but not takeover and was great at communicating ahead of the session We had a great time and came away with lovely decorations that will remind us of a lovely day. Highly recommend
  • 5/5 from James Cook, attended Jul 2025: Heather was a great teacher and very kind and helpful. Would highly recommend her!

  • 5/5 from Asha Sumaria, attended May 2025: Heather was so lovely and accommodating. Had a lovely time would do this again!
  • 5/5 from Georgina Charles, attended Apr 2025: Came with my mum and my bestie for mother's day. We had the most wholesome day and we all loved it. Heather is a very chill and approachable teacher, she explained the steps well and jumped right in to help before we head to ask for it. We picked from two templates, at first I thought they might be too simple but they were just right for us to have a finished piece within the time frame and feel good about it. Would a thousand percent recommend this class! I got more out of it than I was hoping to and would love to book her longer class with my full friend group. It's the perfect balance between artsy choices and hardcore craft tools. Loved it.

Hello! I am Heather, the creator behind Heather Makes Glass, and as you might have guessed, I'm totally obsessed with all things glass.
My work merges traditional techniques with contemporary design to create distinctive pieces that are playful, nostalgic and sometimes a bit spooky. I am inspired by nature, toys from my childhood, and anything silly that makes me smile.
I offer stained glass workshops in Harrow, London. I love delivering workshops because I'm a passionate and patient teacher who enjoys sharing my experience and love for glass. Seeing people get creative, experiment, and have fun is what makes teaching so rewarding. Whether you're a total beginner or have some experience, I’m here to guide and encourage you to explore the possibilities of glass art in a relaxed and enjoyable way!
Quality and sustainability are super important to me. I carefully source premium materials from trusted UK suppliers and recycle materials whenever possible. I love finding a use for unloved glass!
