Felted Collage and Word Art Class

Create a felt collage masterpiece or text based artwork at this creative craft class.

label £47 - £51 (£51 per guest when you book for 1+ guests, £47 for 3+ guests)

Learn to make your own felted artwork at this creative textile art class in London.

Be inspired by the masters: Matisse cutouts, Braque birds or contemporary word artists, and create your very own felt painting. Or use clever wordplay and the graphic quality of text to create some felted slogan art.

You'll use pre-felt – a partially processed form of felt – to create your designs. This type of felt is perfect for collage-style imagery because of its propensity to be cut into clean crisp shapes. After you've prepped your collage, you'll use wet felt making techniques to bring the layers together into your finished work of art. Once dry, it can be embellished with stitches or beads.

The final stages of wet felting can be quite vigorous. If you have arthritis or a similar condition in your hands you may find parts of this process challenging. This does not mean you will not be able to undertake this workshop, just that it may take you a little longer to fully felt your work.

This London art class is suitable for all ages and skill levels, everyone can be creative with colourful felt and have fun making textile art even if you've never tried it before. Your expert teacher will guide you through the making process every step of the way.

As this is an in person class you'll be able to choose from a wide selection of pre-felt colours to create your artwork including your A4 backing piece. All the equipment you'll need will be provided by Tabletop Workshops and whilst Covid remains active participants will not share equipment.

A fun class to enjoy solo, with friends, colleagues or loved ones, or a great option to enjoy with larger groups for a team-building activity.

This class can only run with a minimum of two people. If the minimum number of makers isn't reached, you may be asked to reschedule to another date.

By the end of your craft class, you'll have your very own piece of felted textile art to take home with you. You'll also have a range of new felting and collaging skills to enjoy using for future projects.

I attended a wet felt class and I enjoyed it a lot! Heather was very friendly and welcoming! She’s clearly very talented and knowledgeable about the craft and gave clear instructions/tips when teaching me about it! I would definitely attend another class!
