DIY and Home Maintenance for Beginners Workshop

Treat yourself to a 'Me Day' and learn to be independent in your home while making some new like-minded friends in a relaxed, supportive, and beautiful environment. No previous DIY experience needed at all. Ideal for complete beginners or for those of you who have dabbled in bits of DIY already but would like to expand on your skills.

I'd love to welcome you to this one-day (10am to 3pm) practical and hands-on 'DIY and Home Maintenance Workshop' at the lovely South Ribble Tennis Centre in Preston.

The workshop includes:

• Hammering, drilling & fixings: drill bits, fitting rawl plugs, screws & nails
• How to use a drill
• Checking for electric wires, water, and gas pipes before drilling
• Hanging a level shelf & picture
• Filling gaps & fillers
• Electrical: about safety and fuses, rewire a plug/change a fuse, rewire a light fitting
• Plumbing: fixing a leaky tap, repairing a leaky water pipe, bleeding a radiator
• Painting and Decorating
• And many more useful tips

You will learn how to do those pesky jobs and fix those annoying bits in your home and garden. You will undoubtedly save time and money by getting stuck in rather than waiting for someone to do them for you, and possibly paying over the odds for something you could easily do in a flash!

I will be there every step of the way to guide you and take you through each job and process at your pace. With such a small group, there is plenty of time for one-to-one discussion and to answer all of your questions. Full workshop notes on techniques, tools, and materials will be provided.

Having taught workshops for the past five years, my attendees have reported they don't just leave with lots of invaluable new skills, but they say they have enjoyed a lovely day out from their busy lives and pressures (with lots of chats, laughs, coffee, and cake!), they have met some lovely new friends, and have been inspired to continue at home. You don't need to bring any tools or materials with you for this workshop, however please wear sturdy boots for safety.

The price includes lovely homemade cakes, cream scones, tea, and coffee throughout the day.

Parking is available free of charge at the venue just outside the workshop.

Please come in comfortable clothing and ideally an apron (not essential).
