Recent reviews of Diamine Ink Studio (Autumn London Pen Show)

  • 5/5 from Oren Mitchell, attended Oct 2026: I'd been looking forward to doing the ink studio since I'd heard about it last year, but had missed the booking. I have to say, it was worth the wait. Without a doubt it was the best part of the pen show. It was interesting seeing how the different colour components mixed together, particularly the violet. Everything was well organised and the instructors were friendly.
  • 5/5 from Stephen, attended Oct 2026: What a superb experience! The three of us had such a wonderful time at the Diamine Ink Studio. From beginning to end, everything felt friendly, relaxed and genuinely personal. The staff were absolutely wonderful: welcoming, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. We were given plenty of time to enjoy the whole experience, with no sense of being rushed, and they made creating our own personalised inks feel really special. I would recommend this experience to anybody, whether you’re already a fountain pen and ink enthusiast or simply fancy doing something a little different. We enjoyed it so much that I already want to go again! A brilliant experience for all three of us. Highly recommended!
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Oct 2026: Oh my goodness! Who knew you could make so many colours from so few! The team were so friendly and helpful with exactly the right equipment for us to get stuck in very quickly. In a rare performance, I managed to make a decision after just one and a half palettes and within 50 mins, I had a fresh new bottle of ink all for me. Others spent even more time playing and I loved seeing the creativity and the recipes people came up with. A must-do class for any ink lovers and even better that it was combined with the pen show.
  • 5/5 from Cam Meze, attended Oct 2026: A fun and informative workshop with lovely, patient and kind teachers. Highly recommend this workshop; I’ll definitely be taking it again
  • 5/5 from Andra Kurlis, attended Oct 2026: I've been trying to get onto the ink mixing session since it started, and finally I managed! It was excellent, the facilitator clearly explained the process, and I had a great time mixing colours. My second attempt was what I was aiming for, but I mixed some other shades of ink I liked as well. The one I most liked I now have a full bottle of. Such a fun, happy way to spend a couple of hours playing with colour!
  • 4/5 from Abby Tobutt, attended Oct 2026: Second attempt at review, it wouldn’t post previously! I had a lovely time playing with pigments and seeing what shades I could conjure. I ended up making a colour I hadn’t planned to but that I really enjoyed! It would have been helpful to have had access to more colour wheels (1 shared for all 8 people) to help those who have no cymk experience (like my friend) and ideally perhaps some basic recipes for well known existing inks as a jumping off point (think writers blood or autumn oak or similar). That said it was a relaxed session where we were able to chat with other penfolk and share our mixing/swatching/creative techniques. Staff were helpful and really approachable and obviously knowledgable about the science of it all. Overall I would probably sign on again for next year (there was one lady there who had done it last year too and who was desperate to buy a repeat of last years mix as well as her new mix too! They were gracious enough to work that out for her. A really nice activity to enrich my London Pen Show experience.
  • 5/5 from Paul Williams, attended Oct 2025: Wow, what a simply super workshop and you get to come away with your own ink at the end of it, all the girls were fantastic and knowledgeable about the mixing ink and gave advice on the best colours to add to help you achieve the end result you wanted. The mixing method is using CMYK so I would advise find an ink you really like or colour and look on the ink swatching website for the relevant CMYK which will assist you in working out the number of drops to create a similar colour. The time seemed to speed by which shows how much I enjoyed this workshop.. will happily consider to redo in the spring pen show if it’s available and try a different ink, maybe even add shimmer this time.
  • 4/5 from Amy Lobé, attended Oct 2025: I had a lot of fun making my own ink! I'm glad I did it. 4* because the environment made it hard to hear and it wasn't possible to make lighter coloured inks or inks of some colours (blue-purples, purple pinks).

Hi! I’m Joey — owner of a cozy online stationery shop, admin of the Diamine Ink Studio, and the host of Stamp Station.
My journey began with a deep love for fountain pens and ink. I was captivated by the beauty and personality each pen and color brought to the page. This passion eventually inspired me to create my own exclusive ink colors: "Kong Girls" and "Kong Guys", which reflect my creativity and love for storytelling through stationery.
Wanting to share this joy with others, I began attending and participating in pen shows in the UK, stationery festivals, and various journal meet-ups. Along the way, I discovered that what truly fulfilled me was bringing people together through creativity.
To deepen this connection, I partnered with the renowned British ink brand Diamine to co-host the Diamine Ink Studio Workshop, where fellow ink lovers could create their own unique ink colors — a dream come true for many in the community!
More recently, I launched Stamp Station, a creative space where participants can explore the art of stamping and experiment with different ink pads and techniques. It's all about making creativity accessible, fun, and hands-on.
I’m incredibly passionate about teaching and sharing because I know how powerful it is to find beauty in the small things — like the perfect ink color or the satisfying click of a stamp. Whether you’re a seasoned journaler or new to the world of stationery, I’m here to help you explore, express, and enjoy every moment.
