You’ll be welcomed with a cup of premium Gyokuro, a shaded Japanese green tea known for its depth and softness, before entering a guided exploration of matcha.

We'll step you through the process of designing an acetate to expose for your 2 cyanotype prints, sharing how to think about materials of different opacities and giving you plenty of time to play.

Once you've finished your design, we'll expose it onto pre-coated paper in the sun to get the right effect.


Tone

Tone

You'll then have the options to bleach and tone your print with green or black tea to change the hue on one, both (or neither) of your prints.


Matcha Ritual

Whilst prints tone, Brut Tea will lead a 45 minute immersive matcha experience -- learn how to make the perfect matcha.

Once you've finished with the matcha experience, we'll rinse off prints for a final reveal!


Spend a relaxed Sunday morning exploring the magic of sunlight, printmaking, and tea in this creative cyanotype workshop in London. Combining hands-on craft with a guided matcha experience, this session invites you to slow down and enjoy both artistic experimentation and tea culture.
Working with botanical materials and textures, you’ll create layered cyanotype prints using sunlight before exploring a traditional tea-toning technique that transforms the colours of your work. While your prints develop, you’ll also take part in a guided matcha ritual led by Greenwich-based tea brand Brut Tea.
What to expect:
  • Create two A6 cyanotype prints using botanical materials and textures.
  • Learn the traditional cyanotype exposure and development process.
  • Transform your prints using a tea-toning technique.
  • Experiment with colour changes using black or green tea baths.
  • Enjoy a guided matcha experience including Gyokuro tea tasting.
  • Learn about matcha cultivation, quality, and flavour.
  • Practice traditional whisking techniques and prepare your own matcha latte (oat milk based).
This unique workshop offers a unique way to get creative, and you'll leave with new knowledge, skills and your finished cyanotype prints to take home.

Hi, we’re Emily and Jess, the creative minds behind Something Good Workshops!
Our journey began in 2019 when Emily launched Something Good Workshops (originally known as MADEptford) as a way to spread crafty joy and raise funds for running the London Marathon. What started as a one-time idea quickly grew into a passion for bringing people together through creativity. Since then, we’ve hosted a wide variety of workshops, from arm knitting to body casting, in all kinds of spaces - corporate offices, cosy pubs, pop-up shops, and even people’s homes.
After taking a short break, we’re back with fresh energy and an exciting new partnership. Jess has joined the team, and together, we’re on a mission to spark joy and empower people to explore their creativity in relaxing, welcoming spaces. We believe there’s something magical about slowing down, working with your hands, and leaving with something you’ve made yourself - whether it’s a chunky knit blanket, a personal shrine, or a collage bursting with personality.
