Demo!

Demo

Every session starts with a step-by-step demonstration of both hand-building (coiling) and wheel throwing.

Throwing Pots

Throwing Pots

You will spend 45 minutes throwing pots on the wheel. Our instructors will help you centre and shape your pots. There are no failures here -- everyone creates at least one thrown pot, most will create 3 or 4.

Creating a Coiled Pot

Creating a Coiled Pot

Next, you will move to the hand-building table where you will create a coiled pot. Creativity reigns here at the hand-building table. No two creations are ever the same!

Choose your Pots

Choose Your Pots

In Clay Together, everyone walks away with at least two pots -- one coiled and one thrown pot. Hard choices here -- which thrown pot will become your forever keep sake of the day?

This 90-minute family pottery class in Warwickshire is designed for adults and kids to get messy and make something together -- no experience required, just clean clothes you don't mind getting clay on.
Whether it's a weekend activity, a birthday outing, or just an excuse to do something different as a family, Clay Together is built for shared moments at the wheel and the worktable alike.
What to expect:
  • First half: Everyone takes a turn at the wheel, learning to centre and shape clay as it spins -- wobbly first attempts included.
  • Second half: Swap the wheel for hand-building, using a coiling technique to build a pot piece by piece, no electricity required.
  • Throughout: Our instructor moves between you, offering tips and steadying hands.
You'll leave with two handmade pieces: one thrown, one coiled, both entirely yours. It's a rare chance to slow down together, focus on something with your hands, and create something that didn't exist an hour and a half ago.

  • 5/5 from Carla Lloyd, attended Aug 2026: Both teachers were lovely and very patient. I treated my grandson who loved the potters wheel and although tackled the coil pot with gusto quite quickly git distracted. I sadly do suffer with background noise and have sensory problems and although I was welcomed as an observer and to make sure my grandson paid attention I was getting very close to meltdown with the music that was all base. I did mention right at the start of the class but no offer was made to either switch it off or play something softer. Personally I would recommend this to everyone but if you have s child with sensory issues it may be worth going along beforehand to check it out. It's a teaching session so I just don't get why background music is needed
  • 5/5 from Fiona Kaplan, attended Jul 2026: Great pottery class in Henley today! I am 67 and took my friend's 12-year-old daughter for her birthday present. The teacher was helpful and patient, especially when we were learning to work with the potter's wheel, and made sure we both achieved attractive results. I particularly enjoyed making coil pots and would definitely like to learn more about that technique. We would both like to come back: highly recommended!

I spent years in the C-suite of a medical software company — successful on the outside, exhausted, stressed, and anxious on the inside. Then I tried pottery. My mind cleared, my anxiety melted away, and for the first time in years I had to let go of perfection — because clay simply won't allow it.
When The Old Bank building became available in Henley-in-Arden, I stepped inside out of curiosity. Light, bright, and spacious -- this building simply wanted to be a pottery studio! With room for 12 professional wheels, a dedicated hand-building area for up to 10, 2 large kilns, and a separate glaze room, it is the perfect space for working with clay.
To ensure the highest level of instruction, I brought Selby Dickinson on board to develop the course curriculum. Selby is a studio potter, expert thrower, and brilliant teacher with over 30 years of experience. Selby has great banter, can teach all age groups, is extremely supportive, and, most importantly, he is passionate about his craft. We now have a full roster of teachers - Tilda, Sophie, Robyn, Nicola, and Ros- to provide support and deliver specialist workshops focused on their areas of expertise.
What I love most is seeing clay do to others what it did to me — watching people fall in love with pottery at one of our 1-hour beginner taster classes, discover the joy of refining their thrown creations in a Wheel Throwing 101 weekend intensive, and then develop their own unique practice in one of our pottery clubs. Students arrive stressed and leave transformed all while developing new friendships over a shared love of clay. In short, I love every bit of it... except maybe all the cleaning!
