What you'll do

If you're keen to give sculpting a try and want a fun, beginner-friendly starting point, come along to this class in Manchester, where you'll be using air-drying clay and dried botanicals to make a pretty miniature wall-hanging vase.

Air-drying clay is a brilliant medium to use for sculpting, as it's easy to handle and dries quickly without using any other specialist equipment. Hosted by friendly local crafters, this class will teach you all the fundamentals for working with air dry clay, including the best ways to roll it, shape it and add patterns and texture. You'll love the soothing process of sculpting your vase in this laid-back atmosphere.

Don't worry if you've never worked with clay before, as you'll have all the support you need to make your gorgeous floral vase. You'll come away from the class with your lovely vase, as well as any other little bits you may have made during the class, plus the newfound skills to continue this stress-busting hobby at home.

What you'll get

All tools and materials to make a selection of clay pieces to take home, that will air dry over 24-48 hours.
Bags or boxes will be provided to transport your work safely home.

We’re passionate about craft but being able to make things you’d actually be proud to show off in your home or give as a gift. We also try to offer a range of activities that are a bit different, away from the norm but still being accessible for any level of craft skill.

Common Room is run by Vicky & Ella. Vicky is a teacher by day but also runs a perinatal mental health support group and is passionate about positive mental health. Ella has a creative background in photography and interior design and also runs her own business Ella's Garden. They've got a mutual love of craft and so decided to combine their skills and set up Common Room to facilitate other people to make and create.
