Create a collage of textures to create a vase using stoneware clay at this pottery class in Macclesfield.

4 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £55 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Create a collage of textures to make a vase using stoneware clay in this enjoyable pottery workshop.
This activity is suitable for beginners and those who have dabbled in pottery before. You'll learn how to use the slab technique, starting by rolling out a large slab of clay. This will then be cut into strips ready for you to apply various textures. Once all your textured strips are complete, you'll join them together using slip and by overlapping, celebrating the join itself as another beautiful texture.
The joined strips will form a large textured slab, which you will then shape into a cylinder to create your vase. Finally, you will add a base to complete your unique piece.
After the workshop, your vase will need to dry for a couple of weeks before undergoing its first firing. We will then apply a glaze before the final firing. Once your finished vase is ready for collection, you will be notified so you can pick it up at your convenience.
By participating in this hands-on session, you'll not only learn a new technique but also leave with a wonderful sense of accomplishment as you create your own distinctive textured vase to cherish.
What you'll get
Attendees will have fun creating different textures to join together and finish with a vase that, once fully fired, will be glazed in matte and shiny white glaze.

After graduating in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Three Dimensional Design, I bought my first kiln and got straight into ceramics.
I’ve taught at my local college and now teach adults at Poynton Pottery as well as providing one off workshops and throwing lessons in my studio at The Old Brickworks in Pott Shrigley.
As well as being a producer of homewares, I also love to share the passion with participants, creating beautiful ceramic pieces using a variety of techniques and designs.
As well as one off sessions and throwing lessons, I like to offer smoke firing events and have businesses participating in bespoke workshops for their employees too.
It really is a mindful activity to take part in and people enjoy their time at my pottery studio, usually accompanied by my dog, Nora.
I work every day in clay with a healthy mix of making my own creations and teaching.
