Eat, talk, and get curious

Eat, Talk, and Get Curious

Over dinner, we'll explore the evening's theme through psychology, neuroscience and conversation. Expect interesting questions, shared experiences and plenty of discussion, rather than a lecture.

An evening well spent

An Evening Well Spent

Head home having met some interesting people, learned something new about yourself and your brain, and perhaps seeing the evening’s topic a little differently.

Brain Food is a monthly dinner experience in Glasgow that brings together curious minds to explore the science of being human – psychology, neuroscience, and the stuff that makes us tick – over good food and genuine conversation.
You don't need any background knowledge in these fields. In fact, curiosity is genuinely the only prerequisite. Whether you're coming solo or with friends, you'll find yourself in a small, welcoming group where everyone's encouraged to share ideas, swap experiences, and follow where the conversation naturally goes.
This month, we're rethinking stress. Beyond the usual wellness advice, you'll discover what the science actually reveals about how stress works in your brain and body. You'll explore how your perception of pressure shapes your response, learn to spot your own early warning signs, and try evidence-based ways to regulate and recover – all with no pressure to find the "right" approach, because the goal is working out what genuinely works for you.
Expect science, stories, questions, laughter, and plenty of time to connect with others who are just as interested in understanding themselves and the world around them. This isn't a lecture or a traditional workshop – it's a chance to feel genuinely engaged, discover new ideas, and enjoy some brilliant food together.
Come hungry and curious.

Brain Food started with a simple idea: wouldn't it be nice to have somewhere you could eat great food, meet interesting people and have a proper conversation about what it means to be human?
Why do our brains do the things they do? What shapes our behaviour? Why do we struggle with things we know are good for us? And how do we navigate modern life with brains that weren't exactly designed for overflowing inboxes, smartphones and 47 open tabs?
That's Brain Food.
It's a monthly get-together built around psychology, neuroscience, good food and meaningful conversation. No awkward networking. No sitting through a lecture. No need to arrive with a friend. Just curious people getting together to explore the wonderfully messy business of being human.
I created Brain Food because it's exactly the kind of event I'd want to go to myself.
I'm a self-confessed science geek with a background in neuroscience, pharmaceutical research, psychology and coaching. I have an MSc in Psychological Science and now run Lab&Soul, where I explore how our brains work, how we use them, and how we can work and live well in the pace and pressures of a modern world.
Brain Food gives me the chance to combine that curiosity with something else I love: bringing people together.
I bring the science, the questions and the occasional nerdy fact, but I'm not there to tell everyone what to think. The best moments are when the conversation takes on a life of its own: people swapping stories, comparing experiences, challenging ideas, laughing and realising that other people's brains are every bit as weird as their own.
You don't need to know anything about psychology or neuroscience to come along. You don't need to be brilliant at meeting new people either.
You just need to be curious.
And if small talk isn't really your thing, you'll fit right in.
