Fundraising Cooking Experience

A feel-good festive day of food and teamwork in Manchester, supporting local homeless communities.

7.5 hours Experience size 15 to 90 guests       £120

This December, come together for a cooking experience with food, teamwork, and festive spirit at our Festive Cook-Up! Fundraiser. It’s a high-energy, feel-good event where you and your team will roll up your sleeves and cook nutritious meals for people experiencing homelessness across Greater Manchester.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with plenty of seasonal touches – from festive jumpers to a live choir, and the shared experience of doing something meaningful as a group. Every meal you prepare will go directly to local homelessness organisations, making a real difference at a time of year when it matters most.
Last year’s event saw 90 volunteers cook more than 1, 700 meals in a single day, all using surplus food that would otherwise have gone to landfill. This year, with your support, we’ll go even further, rescuing good food, boosting morale, and showing what’s possible when community and compassion come together in the kitchen.
What to expect:
  • A fun, inclusive event where everyone can get involved (no cooking skills needed).
  • A chance to give back while meeting social value goals.
  • Time to connect with your team and meet other like-minded organisations.
  • Refreshments, lunch, aprons, ingredients, and equipment are all provided.
  • Leave with the feel-good factor of having cooked for a cause.
Join us for a day that combines festive fun with lasting impact – and help make sure more people across Manchester have something nourishing to enjoy this season.
Please note:
This is a fundraising event, not a cooking class.

Cracking Good Food

Cracking Good Food launched in 2010, with the aim of encouraging and supporting more people to cook affordable, seasonal and nutritious homemade food from scratch.
Driven by our belief that EVERYONE deserves good food, our mission is simple: to work collaboratively with others to alleviate food and fuel poverty and increase food sustainability across Greater Manchester.
We enthuse, encourage, and teach individuals and groups how to source and cook affordable, healthy, and tasty food from scratch, whilst minimising both food waste and our environmental impact.
We do this by delivering accessible and empowering cooking courses and training, as part of a wider campaign for affordable, sustainable & healthier food for all. Since Covid we have harnessed over 20, 000 of volunteer hours to cook & distribute over 104, 000 meals for people in need of support across Greater Manchester.
Throughout all of our work, we strive to show by example that eating sustainably and seasonally is both possible and affordable.
