One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Elizabeth McQuade, attended May 2025: No special occasion, I wanted my daughter to learn how to use a sewing machine. She learned all the basics from setting up the machine to then practising and learn your way around the sewing machine. She's hooked and is now looking to buy her own sewing machine. the teacher was a young girl, she was lovely and patient making sure she understood each step. I think it was a really good introduction for her and she came away really pleased with herself. Another lady came to show me how to fit a zip (I was just there for support). Every time I go into this shop the staff are so happy to help and give great service

  • 5/5 from Nicola McManus, attended Jun 2024: Just wanted to learn how to use my machine. Went along to the class in Linwood and had Reagan as my teacher. Reagan was fab, very knowledgeable, personable, professional and made the class enjoyable. There was a few mechanical issues but she stuck with it and ensured, most importantly, that I left with my tote bag complete and feeling confident. Reagan is an asset to the company and as a result of the experience she gave me I will be back for more classes and recommend them to my friends. I have left more confident, knowing to sew inside out, how to overcome bobbin issues, back sewing and just general confidence in myself and the machine. Thank you Reagan, I look forward to coming in again.

  • 5/5 from Karyn Hicks, attended Mar 2024: Jane was absolutely fantastic. Very patient and solved the immediate issues I was having setting up my sewing machine. She was so personable and we chatted very easily. I enjoyed it being one to one as it was a session that was tailored to me and things I wanted to do land achieve. I'm so glad I booked the session and Jane agreed to do it as it was definitely the highlight of my week.
