Textile Block Printing Class

This class is for anyone who’d like to develop their block printing practice or is trying it for the first time. The class will be tailored to the experience of the group whilst covering the basics of block carving, pattern design and printing on textiles. For those who have previous block printing experience, you can use the time to develop techniques, personal projects or try alternative methods of printing.This is a creative workshop using the ancient craft of block printing but with an opportunity to experiment and work unconventionally. As well as straightforward repeats you can have a go at masking, overlaps and printing with everyday objects. Kate will bring fabric samples and books from her personal collection to use as sources of inspiration. She will also share her knowledge of inks and fabrics and point you in the direction of ethically produced and more sustainable materials. Everyone will leave with a length of printed fabric, a carved block and the know-how to continue their block printing adventure! All materials included. Read more details
