We made paperweights and tumblers and Nicola went above and beyond to make sure we all came away with new knowledge and completed items in the time available. We’d recommend her.

  • 5/5 from Carmen Mohamed, attended Dec 2025: The glass blowing baubles class was an incredible start to our festive season. Nikki was really informative in a fun and interesting way. We laughed and wowed the whole time and came away with awesome memories. Thanks so much.
  • 5/5 from Richard, attended Dec 2025: Group of 11, 55 stars. We had an amazing day making Christmas baubles with Niki. Niki is a great teacher, she is also an amazing artist, happy to share she skills with her studio visitors. I day to remember every year when you put your own handmade bauble on the tree. Niki was particularly great with the children, making sure their experience was the same as the adults, selecting their colour schemes and blowing their baubles. Would recommend to anyone, you also get to support a small independent business.
  • 5/5 from Elizabeth Yeadon, attended Dec 2025: We were made to feel exceptionally welcome and the environment was relaxed and full of help and useful insight from what was obviously decades of experience. I’m so glad that small studios still exist and masters can share their love of their craft
  • 5/5 from Caroline Hickey, attended Nov 2025: Nikki is an excellent teacher and great at sharing her knowledge and expertise with the crowd. We were a crowd though (12) so there was a lot of hanging around in a cold workshop waiting your turn. I think this would be a great activity for smaller groups. That said, we're all delighted with our baubles, they look so profesh! Thanks for a lovely evening.
  • 5/5 from Lauren Hayes, attended Nov 2025: We had a brilliant Introduction to Glass Blowing class last weekend. Niki was so lovely and friendly, and very knowledgeable about glass!! She was a great teacher and everyone in the group felt the same. Thank you Niki!
  • 5/5 from Christian Cannon, attended Mar 2025: Really good private session for 6 of us. Something totally different to do and very enjoyable designing your own peice of glass and customising it with your favourite colours. Great experience

My name is Niki Steel and I started working with hot glass at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2006, from there I very quickly fell in love with the material. From there I was lucky enough to study at the International Glass Center in Stourbridge, completing the Hot Glass Professional Development course with top marks.
I have worked in a variety of studios in the UK and also been lucky enough to learn in the Netherlands, USA and Czech. Glass blowing is a very wide range of skills, so the more variation of teaching styles you can experience the better to become competent. All these years of working and training have allowed me to understand this amazing material enough to go on to teach others; this is something I am so passionate about and love to do. I now have years of teaching experience in a public studio, glass demonstrations streamlined and have appeared on a couple of TV programs in the UK (although I am still too embarrassed to watch them my self!!)
I am so passionate about glass and always give 100% to make sure all students get as much out their time as possible.
