In this course, we’ll be making a true luxury slim folding card holder. You will be learning and getting plenty of practise with the actual skills used in high-end leather crafting like the big French house. We'll have fun but this is a serious course, no Mickey Mouse nonsense. For this item, we will be working with Epsom Calfskin leather. Epsom is a printed grain leather which means the texture is embossed onto the surface. This is done for both aesthetic and practical reasons. The printed grain is incredibly scratch-resistant making it perfect for items that will see a lot of use.You can choose the colour of Epsom you would like. Go wild if you want and choose different colours for the outside, inside, and even every card slot. You can also choose the colour of your stitching. In this 2-day course, you will be learning about and using the following skills:Saddle stitching which includes:
correctly locking thread onto your 2 needles
making your stitch holes
getting a feel for correct tension while stitching
backstitching to finish a stitch line
Leather Skiving
Decorative Edge creasing
Prepping for and finishing edges
This course is designed for beginners with no prior leather crafting experience required. The ultimate goal is to have you confident that you have the skills to not only make more of the item you'll make during the course but also tackle other similar skill level projects. As such, while the course assumes no prior experience, you will be learning actual skills and will have plenty of practise. My studio is located in Wellington House, Pollard Street, Manchester. It's a 2-minute walk from Holt Town on the Ashton Metrolink line.In every course, you will learn the actual skills needed to start or progress your leather craft journey. Classes are small so I can provide the guidance needed for everyone. We’ll start with the raw materials and go through every step I would go through myself to get to a final item.I have been honing my craft for the past 8 years. I have 350+ sales on Etsy with 150+ reviews and an average of 5*. I have clients all over the World, many who have been with me since the start.

Recent reviews of In Depth Luxury Leather Craft Course
5/5 from Llibert Ferrer Noguera, attended Oct 2026: Had an amazing time with Joseph on his leather craft course. He's so patient and made for teaching, knows his stuff inside out. The project is set up perfectly, starting with the easy steps and building up to the harder ones so you actually learn properly. And everything went so smooth from the beginning. I walked away with a gorgeous wallet, and we had some really nice talks along the way. Definitely gonna take more classes with him! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn this type of craftmanship. Now I'm truly excited about this!
I've been learning leather craft seriously for the last 6 years but have dabbled for more like 10 years. My leather craft story started when I was working in luxury retail. I used to work for one the well known luxury brands. I enjoyed aspects of this job, especially introducing clients to the brands halo product. The craftsmanship involved is really what caught my interest. When the store wasn't busy I would often spend time looking over the bags and deconstructing them in my head. I started making my own very simple items and gradually built a better understanding of the different styles within the craft. I would make items for family and friends and would receive requests to make certain specific items. This constantly pushed me to progress my skills and improve my precision. Now, I have clients all over the World and continue to enjoy the challenges this provides. On the teaching side, in a previous chapter in my life, i worked as an English as a 2nd language teacher and continue to enjoy passing on my skills and experience. After all, the best way to cement your understanding of a subject is to pass it on to somebody else
