Join me for a 2.5-hour Jesmonite casting workshop in Glasgow and learn the fun process of crafting your very own set of four drinks coasters.
This hands-on activity is specially designed for beginners, so no prior experience with Jesmonite is required. I will show you how to mix and cast Jesmonite AC100 – a safe and eco-friendly material – using silicone moulds. You will learn how to add pigment to create your desired colours and achieve four different finishes for each coaster. I’ll also provide guidance for how to finish your pieces so they look good and are ready to use!
All the necessary materials and equipment for the workshop will be provided, making it a stress-free and enjoyable experience for you. You'll even get a kit to seal your creations at home.
By the end of the session, you will not only have gained new skills but also have a beautiful set of handmade drinks coasters to showcase in your home.

What to bring
Working with jesmonite can be a wee bit messy. I advise wearing something comfortable that you don’t mind getting dirty, avoiding anything with big sleeves that may get in the way.
Bringing an apron with you is also a good idea.
I advise removing any rings/watches/bracelets while working.
Gloves and safety glasses will be available to use.

Your teacher

Hi! I'm David and I'm the maker behind Art for Foodies - a fun-filled, food-focussed studio in Glasgow’s East End, producing affordable, handmade artworks and gifts for fellow food lovers and cooking enthusiasts.
Throughout my creative career I have dabbled in many different disciplines including mould-making, casting, painting, print-making, ceramics and woodwork which is reflected in the diverse range of artworks and products I make.
Think ceramic pasta fridge magnets made with clay the same way edible pasta is made with dough, or a series of prints produced from original oil paintings of farm-grown fruits and vegetables, or hand crafted drinks coasters and cabinet knobs for your kitchen.
On the side I run a casting and mould-making service (called Mould-Fashioned) to support other people's projects.
I have a massive passion for helping others and sharing my skills so I've decided to begin running a selection of fun and therapeutic workshops reflecting my scatter gun approach to making by covering multiple creative disciplines.
Let me introduce you to jesmonite casting with with plans to add workshops in ceramic pasta making, coaster casting, mould-making and lots more to come!
