Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Sara Murray, attended Aug 2025: Was looking for a new machine so booked a 1 to 1 with Jess at the Bath store so I could try the machine I liked & learn more about it as it would be my first time using a digital machine. Jess was amazing, friendly, patient & knowledgeable, i’m a novice & she explained everything clearly at a speed that suited me, had a great hour with her, highly recommend.
  • 4/5 from Jennifer Blackmore, attended Apr 2025: I was shown hobbycraft sewing machine by Cara (I think). She was very knowledgeable and patient. She explained the features of the machine and made sure she understood what I needed.
  • 5/5 from Eyah Maclean-Jackson, attended Feb 2025: I got a sewing machine as a gift and needed some introductions to the machine. It was a really informative hour, that went by very quickly and I came away feeling more confident with the machine and ready to try my first project. Kaye was really friendly as well and happy to answer all the questions I had. It’s a great session and would recommend to many people.
  • 5/5 from Tom Keenan, attended Oct 2024: This was my first "lesson" on how to set up the machine I purchased last year, which I wish had done it sooner instead of trying to fumble my way through. Kaye took both me and my guest through basic set up multiple times and using the machine which allowed us to crack on and get some sample sewing done which just seemed a breeze compared trying to use the machine with just the instruction manual as there are some little tricks which you won't necessarily know without someone showing you. All in all it was great hour and really good value for money especially for the like of myself who really didn't know what I was really doing.

  • 5/5 from Paula Womersley, attended Feb 2024: Purpose of my one to one was Getting the right sewing machine. After many years doing other crafts and hobbies I wanted to get behind the sewing machine again. The assistant was very friendly and helpful. The i machine had my eye on happened to be the same one the assistant had at home. We went through all the other machines and what they could offer but I went back to the one i was thinking of. I can’t wait to get started. Thank to the friendly staff and advice at the Bath store. I know I will return for supplies.
