  • 5/5 from Nicola Godden-Brown, attended Aug 2026: My friend and I had a great time! Karyn was an excellent teacher and incredibly patient with us all. She showed enthusiasm and humour and was very supportive of us beginners. I can't recommend this session enough
  • 5/5 from Chelsea Thompson, attended Aug 2026: Excellent, teacher was calm and patient. Very good for learning the basics! Would love if they did a second class to build from beginners!
  • 5/5 from Rosalind Brown, attended Jul 2026: I attended the beginners Crochet Workshop on 23/7/26 at Hobbycraft Rushden Lakes. I had a little knowledge of crocheting but wanted to improve my technique. The class was well run with a small friendly group, teacher was very easy to understand & took time to show us each procedure. I learnt how to do a slip stitch to begin the chain, double & treble crochet stitches & how to recognise each stitch & to keep the work straight. The workshop gave me more confidence in my crocheting.
  • 5/5 from Nicola Essam, attended May 2026: Absolutely brilliant tutorial! So patient and friendly. Would highly recommend. I’m now going home to crochet the world!

  • 5/5 from Lorraine Brown, attended Dec 2025: Had a great time, very informative and made the class really enjoyable. Will definitely recommend to others.
  • 5/5 from Bakula Datta, attended Nov 2025: Teacher was very caring and supportive during the session. Learnt about basic techniques for crochet using wool. Found the session useful and interesting. It might be more beneficial to have the session table in one corner of the shop, rather than in an aisle where other shoppers were interrupting the session, as the session was for only 90mins.
  • 5/5 from Tanya Sturgess, attended Nov 2025: Very patient teacher, especially with me changing my hand position constantly. Lovely wool and crochet hook that you get to keep. Now to practice.
  • 5/5 from Mrs Patricia Lane, attended Aug 2025: Oscar was very friendly and helpful My granddaughter was very happy with what she learnt and Oscar was very patient with her
  • 5/5 from Ilona Spencer-Smith, attended Jul 2025: Brilliant! Highly recommend. Supportive all the way through, clear demonstration, have a good, share, support, check all through 1 1/2 hours. Went so quickly! I feel confident to have a go on my own now. Amazing

  • 5/5 from Melissa, attended Feb 2025: Rushden lakes - Beginner crochet class. Nice small class of 2 so trainer was more involved, was very happy with the lesson
  • 5/5 from Ann Levison, attended Feb 2025: Learnt double and treble crochet stitches, chain stitch and slip knot. How to finish off. Was given printed instructions. Very enjoyable.
  • 5/5 from Heather Pitwood, attended Oct 2024: Brilliant class, beginners class should maybe a shorter time and then do another class after to give you time to practice then get the technique correct. For rushden lakes it would be better if the classes were to the side or in a separate room. Overall great class with a great teacher. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Frances Mackness, attended Sep 2024: I went to a crochet for beginners lesson in Hobbycraft, Rushden. My tutor was Liz, and she was excellent, so patient and helpful. I do think the lesson was value for money and I was supplied with some wool, crochet needle and instructions. I started practising as soon as I got home.
  • 5/5 from Jane Clowery, attended Aug 2024: Emma was great, an enthusiastic self-confessed crochet addict, she got me from total beginner to confident to give it a go in under an hour. She patiently guided me through the basics and showed me how to correct my errors. Highly recommend a class, I tried teaching myself via kits, books and online without success, the person to person lesson was the only way I was able to grasp the skill to crochet. I left able to cast on, double stitch, and cast off. Emma would have shown me more but I felt this was more than enough for me to make a start on my own. Lesson included crochet hook, two wool and printed instructions to get me started. Will happily go back for another lesson when I’m more progressed.
  • 5/5 from Lyn McClean, attended Jul 2024: Emma was really helpful and very patient. A fab teacher. Great workshop. Looking forward to practicing my new skills.
  • 5/5 from Alex, attended Jun 2024: A really good beginners lesson. Emma was so patient and gave 121 attention to sort out any issues or struggles (not matter how many different ways she needed to explain it). Now to keep practicing and do my first project.
  • 5/5 from Tracey Bates, attended Apr 2024: Lovely lady that was teaching, very patient and explained things really well. Venue was lovely and calm, materials were supplied which was a great touch. Was made to feel at ease and really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants the basics of crochet.
  • 5/5 from Michelle Kilraine, attended Aug 2023: Liz was lovely, Patient and helpful. Class was really helpful and has given me the foundations to continue from
  • 5/5 from Lorraine Williams, attended Aug 2023: Beginners guide to crochet was very good, there were only 4 of us taking the class and the tutor was very knowledgeable. She was able to help us with queries but also helped us if we were going wrong. An enjoyable class. There were 3 stitches we were taught but it would have been easier not to have done all three but to have a shorter class and to go away and practice a stitch at a time. Lovely wool to choose from and a nice crochet hook.
  • 4/5 from Zoe Whyman, attended Aug 2023: Emma was friendly and made time for everyone. She gave one to one help to all of us when we were struggling to understand
  • 5/5 from Leannah Robinson, attended Jul 2023: Emma T at Rushden Lakes was great. We had a really enjoyable hour and a half. She is very enthusiastic and encouraging. I felt that the class was good value and very relaxing. Craft equipment provided was good. Can't wait to practice and start a project.
  • 5/5 from Christina Sheehy, attended Jul 2023: We had a great time with Emma T - it was just me and my sister for the class which was great so we got a lot of personal feedback between the two of us. Got to choose two colours of yarn from a nice selection to take home, Emma recommended lighter colours to start so we could easily see the chains we were creating which was a good shout! She gave us some useful recommendations and tips to keep practising with after the class. We had a lovely time and would recommend this to anyone looking to give crochet a try!
  • 5/5 from Angela Twiselton, attended May 2023: Absolutely terrific. Great tutor. We had a lovely fun afternoon and lots of laughs. I even managed to learn how to crochet. Got lots of good materials. Good instructions. Highly recommended.
  • 5/5 from Sue Geffen, attended Apr 2023: Sian was lovely she was very patient with myself and my 10year old granddaughter. We both learnt the basic crochet stitches and now need to practice. Materials were included all in a nice sealed box which my granddaughter was delighted with. It took place in the store which was no problem at all and the 90 minutes flew by. I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants to learn basic crochet.
  • 5/5 from Nicki Clode, attended Feb 2023: Melisa was brilliant. Super patient and calm particularly with my 8 year old. The crochet materials were of good quality and nicely packaged. We all left having learnt or improved our crocheting techniques. The 90 minutes flew by! Nice little activity in the school holidays. Will book book again.
  • 5/5 from Julie Wilson, attended Jan 2023: Great starter class, everything provided and the teacher was very patient and clear with her instructions.
  • 5/5 from Jeanette Richards, attended Jan 2023: The teacher Sian was lovely, patient and explained well and repeatedly. Good venue and cost per session and materials provided was great value for money.
  • 5/5 from Lisa Lewis, attended Jan 2023: Sian was lovely, my only complaint is that it wasn't a longer workshop! Would love an intermediate/improver workshop
  • 5/5 from Kirsty Nolan, attended Nov 2022: Melissa was a great teacher. I learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend for beginners. Amazing
  • 5/5 from Heather Howes, attended Nov 2022: Cost of was good value for money particularly as it includes all the materials required. The in store location was great, especially because it allows "browsing" (& buying). Our crochet teacher (Melissa) was very patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and professional. Although the lesson lasted 90 minutes, I personally, would have liked for it to be longer (even if it meant having a short break halfway through). I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to start learning to crochet.
  • 5/5 from Claire Price, attended Oct 2022: This lesson was brilliant and I have to say, better than I expected for the price. Melissa was clearly really knowledgeable and there was lots of content covered. The items you got (crochet hook and 2 balls of wool) were perfect and it’s really useful to have them to take away. I liked being in the store, tucked away at the back and we had plenty of room. All in all, we’ll worth the money. Thank you Melissa
  • 5/5 from Denise Sutherland, attended Oct 2022: The teacher was very knowledgeable and had lots of patience and showed us how as well as explained the booklet diagrams. It’s nice to have the booklet to take away to refresh the lesson. The venue was perfect however I did not enjoy the class being held in the store with customers walking around and commenting on our work! Two balls of wool were provided; a bright orange and a dark grey. The teacher advised at the start of the lesson that lighter colours were easier to learn so maybe lighter colours could be provided in the future. A nice sized crochet hook was also provided which was strong. I learned how to make a slip knot and a double crochet. The other class members were all beginners too so we all learned at a similar pace. At £20 for 1.5 hours it was a tad overpriced- 2 hours would make it value for money and allow the time to feel that I definitely knew how to do the stitches.
  • 5/5 from Gwen Harding, attended Aug 2022: Fabulous lesson, really enjoyable. Will definitely be booking another one soon. Friendly and helpful staff!
  • 5/5 from Rita Kerr, attended Aug 2022: The teacher was great, the materials generous, the group size was perfect it was good value for money but I dont think I did very well
  • 5/5 from Paula Walker, attended Aug 2022: Today’s crochet lesson was delivered by a very knowledgeable and talented instructor who not only knew how to create fabulous items but also how to break down each step into manageable and understandable instructions. I would highly recommend to any novice who would like to give this craft a go.
  • 4/5 from Dorothy Stephen, attended Aug 2022: The venue, a table in the corner of the shop floor. was not adequate or private enough. The teacher was excellent and very patient and the materials were very suitable for the work the class did. A very friendly and helpful afternoon.
