One-to-one Crochet Workshop

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a one-to-one and ask any questions you have about Crochet

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a One-to-one and ask any questions you have about crochet. Stuck on a project? Need help with understanding a pattern? Trying to get to grips with a new stitch? Our craft expert will share tips and techniques tailored to you.

This is suitable for crocheters looking for that next step on from our Beginners' Workshops, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to gain confidence with your craft, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about stitches you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Artisan know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a crochet pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Ayesha Riad, attended Sep 2026: Really good, helpful and friendly. Learned a lot.
  • 5/5 from Caroline Derbyshire, attended Jun 2026: My daughter had an amazing experience with Helen at the MK store, who was very knowledgeable, friendly and helped my daughter’s confidence grow, she learnt a new stitch and will definitely have another session as she progresses with her newish love for all things crochet.
  • 5/5 from Jane Roche, attended Mar 2026: Thoroughly enjoyed the session with Zoe at MK. I actually wanted help to get started on a Crossstitch kit I’d received. Zoe was very patient and clear with instructions and made me feel at ease as at 63 I was concerned about learning a new skill but shouldn’t have worried. Thanks Zoe, no doubt see you again and in-store sometime.
  • 5/5 from Alexandra Moodie, attended Mar 2026: Helen was very helpful patient and knowledgeable...and very friendly
  • 5/5 from Karen Devine, attended Feb 2026: I wanted to learn to crochet (would use for a present for a friend or family) but have struggled. I can knit but this was so much harder. I did a 1 to 1 with a friend as an add on, she can already crochet and has tried to teach me before. The teacher was brilliant answering both our questions. I now understand why I've struggled and my friend understands why the last person she taught could crochet in less than 25 minutes. I just have to practise. I look forward to the next class or workshop.
  • 5/5 from Helen Edordu, attended Dec 2025: The workshop was a birthday gift for my 11 year old son. He crochets and wanted to try a new pattern. The teacher, Anita, was wonderful. She was welcoming, kind, knowledgeable and very patient. Cj was allowed to choose what colour yarn he wanted and which pattern to try. Anita was very helpful at helping him find a pattern. She exceeded my expectations throughout the class, offering helpful tips and advice as well as teaching him how to read the pattern. She was patient and kind.

  • 5/5 from Liz Stephens, attended Nov 2024: We absolutely loved our workshop with Helen. She was so helpful and we learned so much. Will definitely book in again - thanks Helen!
  • 5/5 from Mia, attended Nov 2024: I had a 1-to-1 Crochet session. I had only crocheted one thing in 1977, so am a beginner. The session was great - the teacher was very nice, clear, helpful and patient. I learned 3 stitches which should help me start a crochet project. Excellent experience!
  • 5/5 from Lorna Orr, attended Sep 2024: Great workshop, the girls had their questions answered well and were shown how to complete their projects. Anita was very kind and patient with them and they had the best time….high praise indeed from 10&11 year olds! We wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Christine Buck, attended Jul 2024: Helen was lovely; friendly and with considerable expertise. We sat side by side at a table and each followed the pattern to create our own piece of crochet. Helen had had no prior knowledge of the pattern as it was my own. I took along my own wool and hook. Helen matched this from Hobbycraft stock, giving me her work and the remainder of her wool at the end of the session. I learned how to read the pattern and made a good start on making the item. Helen chatted, demonstrated and taught me with natural ease. It was good vale for money and a thoroughly enjoyable time alround. I cannot pick out one element in particular. However I would encourage future crochet pupils to take along a friend at just a small additional cost as this would make even better use of Helen’s skills and give even greater value for money.
  • 5/5 from Julie Hatton Hatton, attended Jul 2024: Helen was really lovely and explained this really well and would defiantly do the next course.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended May 2024: Really great teacher. Helped me to understand the pattern and learned the magic ring technique as well
  • 5/5 from Melody Francis, attended Apr 2024: It was very helpful lovely patient lady helped me I found the whole experience very satisfying
  • 5/5 from Suzanne Hearnshaw, attended Mar 2024: Helen was lovely once again, patient and very helpful and supportive. She looked at my crochet and helped show where I’d gone wrong. I learnt 2 more stitches and Helen also suggested things I could make
  • 5/5 from Marianne Adams, attended Mar 2024: My Nan and my Aunt taught me how to crochet when I was young but I did not know how to follow the pattern in a crocheted owl kit purchased from Hobbycraft several years ago. Helen was very helpful and I feel confident enough to complete it at home with the back up knowledge that I could attend the knit and natter session if anything stumps me.
  • 5/5 from Donna Page, attended Feb 2024: Booked a session with Helen to teach myself and my daughter crochet. We are both complete novices. Helen was patient and a great teacher. I came away having learned to chain, double crochet, treble crochet, magic ring and granny square! Daughter is now already addicted. We came away with a crochet hook and two balls of wool each and a new favourite hobby. Thanks Helen.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jan 2024: I booked this 1:1 crochet class for my 9 year old daughter and myself. Helen was brilliant (as always, I have been to her classes before). She was patient and engaging, she was happy to show the same steps again. My daughter enjoyed the lessons a lot, and we hope to repeat the class with a friend and her daughters. Thanks Helen.
  • 5/5 from Carol Simms, attended Jun 2023: An excellent knitting workshop. Helen is very knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. She has great patience and explains things in an easily understandable way. I had specific sections that I needed advice on and these were covered comprehensively. I shall enjoy making up garments and making buttonholes now rather than dreading them. I highly recommend the one to one workshop to everyone that has that worrying question that your method could be improved but you don't know how. The workshop was held in the knitting section of the shop - this was friendly and a very suitable area. It was difficult at times as the sun was shining directly through the roof making it hot and bright - perhaps a cover/blind may be possible? I look forward to the knit and natter groups that were mentioned to meet other knitters. Many thanks.
  • 5/5 from Sue Thomas, attended May 2023: Helen was lovely! Very patient and helpful Taught me to use DPNs and circular needles Really enjoyed my session!
