What you'll do
Cyanotype is a very simple yet versatile printmaking technique and is one of the oldest alternative photography techniques. In this three-hour Manchester workshop, you will create your own unique, one-of-a-kind prints using the alternative photography process of cyanotype.To create this effect, we'll lay photographic negatives printed onto acetate over sensitised paper, and expose it to UV light revealing a completely one-of-a-kind print in a gorgeous cyan-blue colour.This is a fantastic technique to learn as an introduction to printmaking. Our class is designed for complete beginners so they can get familiar with this rewarding craft and make something they love. Absolutely no previous experience in painting or drawing is necessary to enjoy this fascinating and relaxing workshop.Disability access: There is a lift to the left of the steps coming up from Great Bridgewater Street that can bring you up one floor, the venue is then to your left.

Open to complete beginners as well as those who have some experience.
What to bring
If guests wish to work from their own photos then they can email 4 images (best with lots of contrast and tonal variation) to me when prompted closer to the workshop date. I will print these onto acetate to be used in the workshop. Otherwise guests can use acetates that I already have.

Your teacher
I'm an artist printmaker and life model based in Manchester city centre producing personal work as well as facilitating printmaking, life drawing and painting workshops regularly in Manchester. I regularly travel for private workshops and events so I’m happy to bring the studio to you! I absolutely love watching people explore the huge variety of printmaking techniques. In addition to the pure joy of creating, making something new boosts self esteem, relieves stress and anxiety, stimulates the mind, and helps us to interact with ourselves and our community in a different way than our usual day-to-day lives. Printmaking provides the opportunity to explore and communicate our thoughts, emotions and ideas in a fun and experimental way. I teach regular printmaking workshops at The Village Hall, Deansgate Mews as well as private 1-2-1 sessions in my personal studio at Hidden. I also run workshops for other artists, corporate events and neighbourhood complexes. So Little Lion Studio is many things, but there is just me at it’s heart. Essentially, I am an artist and workshop facilitator providing a safe and encouraging space for people to come and feel comfortable creating, exploring, experimenting, talking, thinking and feeling.
