One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended May 2024: Liz's amazing, as a complete beginner I learnt a lot of how to use a sewing machine in just one session. I tend to ask a lot of questions and she is very patient with explaining bits to me :)
  • 5/5 from Lydia Cavell, attended Apr 2024: I took my 8 year old daughter to learn the basics about using a sewing machine. The one on one was fantastic and the lady teaching us was brilliant answering all my questions. We came away happy knowing the basics and with a machine for us to have a go on. The class was excellent value for money and we came away with some samples to further our practice at home.
  • 4/5 from Carol Neale, attended Apr 2024: It was a good lesson Liz was most helpful and we sorted a issue with my machine. Thank you.

  • 5/5 from Yasmin Holland, attended Feb 2024: Really helpful. Super friendly staff member. She understood my reason and what I was hoping to achieve in the future with it and guided me through as a good pace. She taught me the basic skills and I have taken it all in and gone home and practiced.
  • 5/5 from Emily Davis, attended Dec 2023: Phoebe (8) got so much out of her very first sewing machine lesson. Liz was really good, she was patient, went over bits a few times to get the info to sink in but also let phoebe try to remember herself before giving the help. We will be booking another workshop with liz once phoebe has mastered the first basic skills. Only downside- now phoebe thinks she is ready to make dresses.
  • 5/5 from Diane, attended Nov 2023: The teacher was exceptional, she was very patient and very professional, she definitely knew her skill, she gave me some very good tips The venue was good but where we had our lesson needs to be more private as we kept getting interrupted by other people wanting to know where products were and one even wanted to know how to work a specific sewing machine, it was very off putting for me as a student and a paying customer for a one to one session It was nice to get a discount off the course and it was the offer that got me to book the class. I learnt how to sew in a zip into a bag and also into a garment The thing I liked most was the lady that was my tutor, she gave me confidence to fit the zips, I’ve not dared try it until now
  • 5/5 from Leigh Claxton, attended Nov 2023: Liz was relly frendly and explained and demonstrated everything to me brilliantly. Very knowledgable and patient.
  • 5/5 from Claire Baker, attended Nov 2023: Liz was excellent at explaining and demonstrating how to use the sewing machine. She was extremely patient and answered all my questions. Great course. Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Nikki Rushin, attended Oct 2023: Teacher super friendly, explained everything clearly. Let us try things as much as needed. Very encouraging.
  • 5/5 from Amy, attended Oct 2023: Amazing! Just what I had hoped for and more. I had purchased a new sewing machine and followed the instructions for setting it up but just couldn’t get it to work how it should. The lady running the workshop was friendly and knew her stuff. She was really helpful and showed me lots of tips and tricks to use my machine. I can’t wait to get practicing.
  • 5/5 from Judith Reaney, attended Jun 2023: Excellent. The teacher was friendly and approachable. She sorted out a lot of my problems and now I need to practice. If I get stuck I will make another appointment. Worth every penny. Thank you. Judith Reaney
