It made all of the difference to have an expert on hand to help along the way. It was a small group of 5 which enabled more 1:1 time. Our teacher was very patient, explained each step clearly and gave all attendees individual time and at thwir own pace. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend it.

  • 5/5 from Keira Hart, attended May 2026: My husband bought me the workshop for a present as I had crocheted when I was a child and wanted to start again. The teacher, Chrissie, was lovely, very patient and encouraging and went at my pace. I was lucky as there was only me in the session. I came out armed with my wool and crochet hook and two samples I'd made in the session ready to get going. I learnt three stitches which will keep me going for all sorts of things. Really enjoyed it, thank you!
  • 5/5 from Nikki Cameron, attended May 2026: I received the beginners crochet class as a present from my oldest child. Giving us a lovely opportunity for us to spent some quality time together while learning something new. The booking process was very straight forward and it was easy to book on a day and time that was convenient and at our preferred location. Our teacher was very patient and explained every step clearly, and made sure we were happy before moving on to teach us the next stitch. She was happy to answer any questions we had and was very encouraging. After the class I felt confident to go home and attempt crocheting a dolls blanket. We look forward to attending the Granny Squares class once we have practiced what we have learned. I would highly recommend this class. We attended the Southampton Hobbycraft.

  • 5/5 from Louise Pugh, attended Nov 2025: Emalie was a great teacher for beginners to crochet - very patient and managed to get to each student individually. When we first started I really thought I wasn’t going to be any good but it soon clicked! It’s a very therapeutic thing to do - calming.
  • 5/5 from Abigail Argles, attended Nov 2025: Brilliant class! I was a complete beginner, never having picked up a hook before, and I was worried I'd be unable to do it but by the end of the class I'd learned the chain stitch and the double! It was a really friendly and welcoming environment.
  • 5/5 from Mary Mills, attended Nov 2025: Amazing teaching. Had so much fun.
  • 5/5 from Austin Theis, attended Nov 2025: Amazing class and the teacher was phenomenal; she made the class fun and engaging. I highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Sue Davis, attended Nov 2025: Chrissie was very clear and helpful; having the printed instructions to refer to was also good. I was much more confident by the end and had learnt triple crochet (which I’d never done before) and accidentally learnt how to increase and decrease stitches! To have materials to take away was great.
  • 4/5 from Alison Brown, attended Nov 2025: To teach 5 beginners was a tall ask of anyone but the teacher rose to the challenge
  • 5/5 from Deborah Rudd, attended Oct 2025: Excellent class with Mandy at our local Hobbycraft. We learnt the basics and finished with a piece of work which included double and treble crochet. Lots of practice needed but it was a great starting point. Thanks to Mandy for her patience & kindness.
  • 5/5 from Penny Drake, attended Oct 2025: I really enjoyed the beginners crochet class. I was an absolute beginner and I can now confidently do a double stitch. It was great to get to take the wool and hook home as I could then keep practicing before I forgot. The teacher Chrissy was amazing and very patient. I would highly recommend.
  • 5/5 from Karen Chafe, attended Oct 2025: A lovely atmosphere, a few giggles and a great teacher.
  • 5/5 from Mandy Clifford, attended Oct 2025: Chrissie was fantastic, she made me feel at ease straight away. She took her time to explain things & she made sure I was confident before moving onto the next stage. She gave me lots of encouragement (even if a stitch was wrong). The 90 minutes flew by but I left feeling confident & ready to go home & practice what I've learnt. Thank you Chrissie.
  • 5/5 from Janet Baute, attended Oct 2025: This is a total beginner's class, which was good, I’m not a total beginner but I still learnt a few things, which was great, for me personally I prefer to work on double knitting and a smaller crochet hook, I found the thick wool and large hook very difficult to work with, but that is my opinion, but the time went really fast but was enjoyable, thank you
  • 5/5 from Denise Lowth, attended Oct 2025: Crochet for beginners. Nice small class, with ample time for the teacher to demonstrate and assist each member. Clear and relaxing instructions and excellent teacher.
  • 4/5 from Liz, attended Oct 2025: Crochet for beginners. Everything is provided & only 5 in the class which meant everyone got some individual attention, so ideal for complete newbies like me (although all the others there had previous experience or were already knitters so picked it up quicker). The course was well presented by a friendly and helpful member of staff. As an absolute beginner I just wanted to learn the basics, this session is a fair start to that aim. Just could have done with being a longer session, as ours didn't have time to start learning treble stitch even with an extra 20 minutes past the allocated time. I might consider the 'granny squares' course once I've got the hang of the basic stitches.
  • 4/5 from Debbie Wyatt, attended Oct 2025: Emalie was a lovely teacher. Very down to earth, patient and encouraging. There were 5 in the class and Emalie did her best to attend to us each individually. It was good to learn a few different stitches too. I think the class could be improved by the provision of refreshments and maybe a slightly longer session so there is time to master some of the stitch techniques before moving on. I think I will need another session to feel more confident in what I have been taught today.
  • 4/5 from Julia Westbrooke Browning, attended Oct 2025: Please do craft evenings at west end course was good
