What you'll do

Learn the fundamentals of rug making in this fun and friendly Mini Rug Workshop. This three-hour session is a perfect introduction to the craft, where you will create your very own 35cm x 40cm personalised piece.

This activity is ideal for beginners, and your instructors will guide you through the entire process from start to finish. Due to the shorter timeframe, it's best to keep your design simple, which helps ensure you'll have a finished rug by the end of the class. Whether you want to create a quirky, free-style design or a simple, colourful pattern, the choice is all yours!

In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to:

Use a cut-pile electric tufting gun
Choose from a range of suitable colours for your design
Start and finish your tufting project with confidence

All the materials you need are provided for you. You'll leave with a wonderful new hands-on skill and the satisfaction of having created a complete mini rug to take home and admire.

Important Notes:

Check your booking date and time carefully before payment.
To attend this class, you need to be at least 10 years old. If you’re under 18, please come with a guardian (2 people can work on one rug).
Please email us your desired design at least 24 hours before class.
After tufting, we’ll need approximately 10 days to complete trimming, shaving, and other finishing touches. This post-processing service is included in your class fee, so there’s no additional charge.
Once you’ve finished tufting, you’re free to go — we’ll notify you by email when your piece is ready. You can choose to pick it up in person or have it posted to your address (£10 per parcel, one parcel could include multiple pieces if it is sent to the same address).

It was so fun and felt very easy to learn off the teacher, I felt like it got my creative brain flowing and I felt like I was in my feminine aura, too too if your not from Manchester you need to pay for postage and packaging, which is £5 per person, what I loved most was you could pick as many colours as you wanted and you could just sew away I partially liked the pink gun! Great activity for mums and kids and dads and kids. Great experience

Never done anything like it before so it was cool to try something new, and our teacher was really supportive - explained and demonstrated things well, and then helped guide us when we needed some troubleshooting. I also liked that she was not too "over-bearing" - once we were set up more or less left us to work, but was in the room with us and available if we needed her. The only thing I would suggest is some more practice time - maybe doing a brief practice deisgn? It was only really as you went that you figured out how the tufting you were doing on one side looked on the other side, so time to do a practice design would help you envisage how your main design would work out. We had an hour left at the end, so would have had time to do it!

Hey there! We’re two art-loving, fashion-obsessed girls who discovered tufting during the lockdown (when life felt a little… blah). One day, we stumbled upon tufting videos on social media and thought, “This looks fun!” So we ordered our very first tufting gun, and just like that, we were hooked. Tufting truly lifted our spirits and brought joy during such a tough time.

In late 2022, we decided to turn that joy into something we could share with others—and that’s how T&T Craft Studio was born. Since then, we’ve been tufting full-time: teaching workshops, creating custom pieces, and building a cozy, creative space in Manchester where anyone can come and give tufting a go.

We love mixing traditional textile techniques with fresh, playful design to create something truly unique and fun. Whether you want to make a mini rug, a full-size floor piece, a funky mirror frame, or even a tufted tote bag, we’ll guide you step by step in a warm and welcoming environment.

Our studio is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly, dog-friendly, and full of good vibes. We believe in creating a safe, inclusive space where everyone can feel relaxed, be themselves, and unleash their creativity to the fullest.
