Build on your machine knitting skills and make your own knitted Christmas stocking in this intermediate workshop with Izzy from Coyle Studio. We'll revisit the basics before exploring new techniques and putting your skills into practice to create a festive stocking to take home. The workshop will also introduce you to the techniques and pattern principles you can use to knit your own socks at home.This session is ideal for anyone who has attended a beginner machine knitting workshop or already has a basic understanding of machine knitting and is looking to develop their skills further in a fun festive session.What to expect:
- Revisit the basics and practise any techniques you need a refresher on.
- Learn partial knitting, fabric manipulation, different transfer tool techniques and all the skills needed to knit your own stocking.
- After a lunch break, work on knitting your Christmas stocking in colours of your choosing.
- Enjoy a small group of no more than 6, ensuring everyone receives helpful guidance.
- Practise, experiment and revisit steps while troubleshooting any issues.
- Take home a Christmas stocking pattern and a sock knitting pattern to build on your skills further.

Your teacher
Coyle Studio was founded by Manchester based designer and maker Izzy Coyle. After graduating from Chelsea College of Art in 2021 with a Textile Design degree, she established her studio practice and brand. Her work explores colour, process and commonplace materials through collage and mixed media work as well as her main specialism, knitted textiles.Izzy is an experienced knitwear designer and has worked with fashion brands and designers to design, develop and produce high-end knitwear. Drawing on this industry experience, she now teaches beginner machine knitting workshops, sharing the fundamentals of the craft.
