Step into a cozy, creative haven

Step Into a Cozy, Creative Haven

This session invites you to slow down, play with clay, and reconnect with your creative spirit. Whether you are completely new to pottery or looking to explore new hand-building techniques, you’ll be guided step-by-step.

Cutting and shaping

Cutting and Shaping

You'll start with a flat slab of clay and learn how to use essential hand-building tools to start shaping your house walls, roof sections and decorative tiles! Plenty of help will be on hand if you need it.

Tracing and Cutting Your Pieces

Tracing and Cutting Your Pieces

Now comes the fun part of bringing your design to life! In this step, you’ll place your paper house template flat onto your rolled-out slab of clay. Using templates is a wonderful way to make sure all your walls and roof panels turn out the exact right size.

Joining the Edges

Joining the Edges

Bevel the edges of each clay panel at a 45° angle so they fit together neatly, like a picture frame. Score the edges and add slip or water to help the panels bond securely, creating strong, seamless corners for your little house.

Putting the walls together

Putting the Walls Together

Attach the front and side walls to the base, joining the corners to create your little house shape. Score the edges with tiny grooves and add slip or water to help the clay pieces bond securely before adding the roof and windows!

Glaze and details.

Glaze and Details

Once your house has been assembled and fired, bring it to life with colourful underglazes and glazes. Add terracotta tones to the roof tiles, mossy green accents around the entrance and a glossy finish to the walls, ready to glow beautifully by candlelight!

Unwind and ignite your festive spirit in this relaxing, hands-on clay pottery class in Chorlton, where you will learn how to craft and paint your own illuminated Christmas house to treasure forever. You’ll leave with a unique ceramic creation made by you, professionally finished with a durable, glossy glaze.
This cosy workshop is a gentle and welcoming activity for beginners, with no previous experience needed. It’s the perfect gift to yourself, a fun date night idea, or a creative celebration with friends or colleagues looking for a unique Christmas party activity. You don’t need to use a pottery wheel, and you’ll be guided step-by-step throughout, so you can relax and enjoy the process.
What you'll do:
  • Roll slabs of paper clay and cut panels for your walls and roof.
  • Assemble your 3D Christmas house structure.
  • Use speciality cutters to create glowing windows, starry cut-outs and doors.
  • Add vibrant colour directly to your wet piece, from snowy roofs to festive details.
After the workshop, your creation will be professionally dried, clear-glazed and double-fired in our kiln. This may be a calming, satisfying and confidence-boosting experience, giving you the freedom to be creative without pressure while making something truly special.
You’ll finish with an illuminated Christmas house that has been transformed from simple sheets of clay into a beautiful keepsake, ready to treasure and display for many festive seasons to come.

Your teacher

30 Years of Clay Expertise. Zero Experience Needed.
My creative roots began as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) art teacher, a space that taught me a beautiful truth: absolutely everyone can create something unique with the right guidance. After three decades of mastering ceramics and gathering inspiration from global pottery techniques, I focus entirely on helping you build genuine confidence in your artistic skills.
Whether you want to learn the art of throwing pots on the wheel, dive into tactile clay building, relax with pottery painting, or host a mobile private party at your own venue, I make the process simple and stress-free.
You do not need to be an "artist" to create something beautiful. Just bring your curiosity, and I will guide you every single step of the way.
