Whether you're looking for fun things to do with kids in London or you're keen to pursue a new creative outlet, come along to this printing workshop in Soho and enjoy learning an unusual vintage printing technique.
Anthotype printing, discovered in 1842, utilises plant juices and extracts like turmeric and spinach to create unique botanical prints, or even photographs! During this workshop, your experienced teacher will give you the skills you need to create some beautiful prints to bring home and hang with pride, or give as a unique gift for the art lover in your life.
You'll learn the full process of creating these pretty plant prints, including how to make the base emulsion for the ink, which you can bring home with you and use to create even more prints in the comfort of your own home. Don't worry if you get stuck, as your friendly host will be on hand to answer any questions and make sure you're on the right track.
Whether you're bringing the kids for an enriching print class or inviting some friends for a crafty catch up, you'll love learning to make these unique plant-based prints.
What you'll get
All materials and equipment to make a set of anthotype botanical prints to take home with you, as well as the emulsion mixture so you can create more at home.
What to bring
All materials will be provided but you're welcome to bring your own botanical pieces to work with if you'd like to. These could be leaves or flowers you've picked up on your way to the workshop or flat objects such as pieces of lace or feathers.
