Unleash the dynamic duo of ink and watercolour in this immersive, hands-on workshop designed to bring wildlife to life on paper. Pen and wash (ink and watercolour) combines the precision of fine line work with the fluid, expressive freedom of loose paint—making it the ideal medium for capturing the texture of fur, the sheen of feathers, and the lively energy of the animal kingdom.
Workshop Highlights:
Expressive Line Work: Learn how to use your choice of pen to create varied line weights, cross-hatching, and subtle contours that define animal anatomy.
Fluid Watercolour Washes: Master wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques to layer soft, translucent colour without muddying your ink lines or losing transparency.
Textures & Details: Discover simple tricks for rendering fluff, feathers, scales, and whiskers, alongside techniques for painting striking, realistic eyes.
Composition & Depth: Practise using contrast and selective detail to make your wildlife subjects pop off the page.
What you'll get
Step-by-step demonstrations from an experienced artist and tutor. Personal guidance and feedback tailored to your individual skill level. A friendly, relaxed environment with high-quality reference photos provided.
Knowledge required
Suitable for both adventurous beginners looking to try a mixed-media approach and intermediate artists wanting to loosen up their style and refine their wildlife drawing skills.5

Artyfacts are a family run business based in Bromsgrove UK, offering a wide range of art & craft classes & workshops, all run by local artists & tutors.
We also sell a wide range of art materials, have a gallery for local artists to sell their work, and offer a bespoke framing service.
Artyfacts was established in 1993 by father and daughter Bob & Sarah Dutton, and when Bob retired in 2010, Sarah's brother Gavin joined the company.
In 2025 we outgrew our premises in The Strand, and moved to a larger site in nearby Sidemoor. This allowed us to integrate more closely with the local art community, and we began to offer regular fun, informal and therapeutic art and craft workshops.
