Beginners Wax Carving

An introduction to the unique medium of jeweller's wax!

3 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £145 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

The ancient art of lost-wax casting was originally established as a metalworking technique in the Bronze Age and has developed through millennia to this very specific manufacturing process.
This beginners' class looks to introduce students to this method of lost-wax casting and using jewellers' wax. This session allows you to experiment in the sculptural element of jewellery making and will introduce you to a completely alternate jewellery-making technique.
Get to grips with the unique nature of jewellers' wax, learning how to manipulate it and experiment in sculpting and building in this very different medium. In this class, you can create a ring or pendant, or a test/sample piece which will then be cast in silver and returned to you as a finished piece.
With lots of inspiration to guide you, this short course is perfect for the jewellers looking to express their ideas in alternative ways, or for those beginning their jewellery journey to widen their understanding of general jewellery making.
All material costs are included in the class prices, and refreshments will be provided!
What you'll get
The cost of all the materials used and casting is included in the class price! When your piece has been cast and cleaned up, you can collect from our adjoining gallery or have it posted to you for a small fee.
Good fun and refreshments are also provided!
Knowledge required
This class is perfect for beginners who have no jewellery making experience and intermediates who want to explore a new medium!
What to bring
