  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Feb 2026: I’ve been a knitter for years and although keen to try crochet I was really struggling to get to grips with it. Books and YouTube videos were confusing as I’m also left handed. I booked in for a beginners introduction at hobbycraft and feel really happy that I now understand the basics. The tutor was so patient and encouraging.
  • 5/5 from Iuliana Smaranda, attended Feb 2026: I was a total beginner, did not even know how to hold the hook. It seemed like the other participants had a little bit more experience but the teacher was very patient and let me work at my own pace, not pressuring me. I thought I would never be able to crochet or learn the double stitch but the teacher encouraged me to practice at home. I am proud to say that when I got home I was indeed able to do it after thinking back on her method. I am very glad and I would book another class again in order to improve on my existing knowledge.
  • 5/5 from Judith Pealing, attended Feb 2026: The class was very good and has really got me started with my crocheting. The teacher was very patient and really helpful.
  • 5/5 from Lynsey Taylor, attended Dec 2025: The class was very enjoyable and informative. Before the class, I had been stuck learning the various crochet stitches from online videos. In the class, I learned how to chain and do a double and treble crochet. The time allowed seemed about right, and I left with two balls of wool to carry on my project. The teacher was very friendly and well informed.
  • 5/5 from Khadijah Ilyas, attended Dec 2025: I had a great class and as there was no one else booked on it was literally a one-to-one class. My tutor was very patient with me, happy to keep going back to the beginning and going super slow so I could grasp the stitch. It exceeded my expectations as I knew was chain stitch but couldn't control my tension. I made a headband on the same evening using two of the stitches I learnt but also did practice all three stitches I was shown. Brilliant couple of hours.
  • 5/5 from Rowan Varley-Doran, attended Nov 2025: Great class, small enough to be able to receive individual support and the tutor, Liz, was brilliant at explaining everything and making it fun.
  • 5/5 from Denise Kuru, attended Aug 2025: Had a fabulous time today trying to master the basic crochet stitches. Kim was so patient and helpful. So much better than trying to follow anything online. Now to practice Highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Gail Lockey, attended Jul 2025: Great class just us two and the tutor. Clear instructions and lots of patience! The wool we used was really lovely too. Would recommend if you’re wanting a complete beginners guide
  • 5/5 from Sharon Parsons, attended Apr 2025: Excellent class, went from not knowing anything to happily creating i learnt how to do a slipknot to start, a chain stitch a double stitch and a trebble stitch. I got a lovely bag with two large chunky yarn and a solid metal hook size 8. I also got the written instructions with pictures just in case I had trouble when I got home. The teacher was fabulous, she went through everything at my pace and giving easy instructions to follow. She was friendly and helpful. Will definitely book for the next level class once I've had more practice but everyone can't believe I've only been doing this for less than two weeks. Also going to see what other classes are available. Would highly recommend.

You get wool and a hook to take home so I plan to learn more at home. Glad I went along!

  • 5/5 from Sharon Wilson, attended Jul 2024: I attended the beginner's crotchet course. Ebony explained everything very well and she was extremely patient. We practised all stitches, increasing and decreasing. The course was held on the shop floor so there was some footfall, although this was not a distraction The materials provided were goof, however most patterns are completed in DK wool and we learnt with Chunky wool For me the class was good value for money. I most liked having Ebony there to answer any questions and for her to see that we were doing it correctly

  • 5/5 from Julie, attended Jul 2024: Ebony was a great teacher, very patient and excellent at explaining everything. Having tried crochet at home (unsuccessfully!), I came away with the knowledge I need to progress. For the majority of the class the venue was great but unfortunately the last 20 mins were noisy. The class was definitely worth the money and I would recommend it.
  • 5/5 from Ellen Stewart, attended Jun 2024: I had an amazing one to one with Ebonie. She was very patient and I could crochet by the end of the class, I sampled different stitches and made a granny square. I thought it was good value for Money and I give Ebonie 10/10 she is a lovely friendly member of your staff. Would recommend.

  • 5/5 from Emma Halliday, attended Apr 2024: Liz was welcoming and friendly and really took time to show us and work with us individually. She was even able to work to our requests of different techniques. The time flew by and I was pleased with the kit I got to take away
  • 5/5 from Karen Cowley, attended Apr 2024: Beginners crochet was just that. Teacher was excellent and explained everything at whatever pace was necessary Materials were perfect for learning. Enjoyed it very much and lots of info to take away.
  • 5/5 from Karen, attended Apr 2024: I liked that we were only a small class of 6 and the instructor was able to support us with our endeavours. The class was 1.5 hours and this just flew by, but we learnt quite a few things that we could practice at home. I would have preferred wool that was not as thick as that provided as it was quite difficult to work with and was not able to distinguish where we needed to be with our hooks. Overall I thought it was good value and certainly recommend it for the beginner.13 fr. etc. fe nk Mmmm inonononnn
  • 5/5 from Angela Hubbard, attended Mar 2024: Ebony was kind, patient and encouraging. She explained things slowly and carefully. We learned three crochet stitches and had time to practise before moving on.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Mar 2024: The teacher was friendly and very clear with her instructions. It was fun session. I feel confident to continue to improve my crochet skills.
  • 5/5 from Sue Foster, attended Mar 2024: My daughter and I did the crochet course with Ebony, what a lovely, helpful, patient lady she was, we was given a bag with wool & a crochet hook & an instruction leaflet. The only negative I have about the course is nothing to do with Ebony or the course is where it is held which is on the shop floor, customers where coming over and talking to us, I feel it would be better if a corner of the shop was cornered off. Many thanks Ebony we will be coming back for the next course.
  • 5/5 from Wendy Weston, attended Feb 2024: The instructor was kind and patient, it was friendly and informal. I can now do 2 crochet stitches
  • 5/5 from Cath, attended Feb 2024: Really enjoyed the session. I learnt some basic stitches and can now go on to develop.my skills.

  • 5/5 from Dianne Biddleston, attended Jan 2024: I was with Ebony and she was really nice, helpful and patient with me would highly recommend the course
  • 5/5 from Sue Mason, attended Jan 2024: Lovely materials supplied by our excellent teacher, thankyou. Clear instruction, especially for my 10 year old grand-daughter who picked up crocheting very quickly. Venue clean but a little cool.
  • 5/5 from Christine, attended Dec 2023: Teacher, Ebony, was great - friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She explained each step clearly and helped everyone in the group individually to master the techniques. I’ve tried crocheting before using books and on line videos but have never been able to do it. After today’s class I now feel I can do the basic stitches and have something I can build on. I really enjoyed the class and would definitely recommend it to others. Good quality materials provided too.
  • 5/5 from Michelle, attended Dec 2023: Absolutely loved the crochet workshop. Ebony the tutor was lovely, so easy to talk to and so helpful answering any questions we had. I certainly learnt a lot and now feel confident enough to have a go myself.
  • 5/5 from Jayne Ashton, attended Nov 2023: Teacher was excellent she explained everything very well and was very patient. The materials provided were great, the atmosphere was quiet to say shoppers were about. Lighting could have been a little better but that’s just how the store is. Learn basic crochet stitches so now feel confident enough to have a go by myself
  • 5/5 from Susan Kondakor, attended Oct 2023: The teacher was very friendly and patient, she obviously knew her stuff. The venue was ok but there were distractions from time to time. We were surprised to be given a bag each of wool and a hook. It would have been even nicer if we had been given a choice of wool colour - grey and sage green are not my favourite colours. The wool also has a tendency to split as it isn't spun as tightly as some. When I booked the workshop I was hoping for something that would kick start us as we are both novices and it certainly did. We learnt three stitches and got chance to practice each one thoroughly. The time flew. I am really pleased I booked it.
