Join us at the Catford House for this one-off weaving workshop in London and give old garments a new lease of life by weaving them into something unique and beautiful. You'll help bust our stash of gorgeous yarns whilst creating something entirely your own in this beginner-friendly class.
I'll guide you through two different weaving projects, so you can choose which speaks to you: a generous 'mug rug' coaster perfect for everyday use, or a more abstract, textured mini piece of wall art. Whichever you pick, you'll leave with a handmade treasure that's one-of-a-kind.
Never woven before? No worries at all. This workshop is designed with beginners in mind, so you'll feel comfortable and genuinely supported every step of the way. There's something wonderfully creative about transforming materials that might otherwise be forgotten into something beautiful – it's weaving with heart and purpose.
This class is part of Catford House's sustainable fashion festival, so you'll be part of a bigger community celebration of upcycling, mending, and fabric swapping. Come early or stay late to explore what else the festival has on offer.
What you'll get
  • A large range of materials to play with.
  • A fun, lively atmosphere at the (family and pet friendly) Catford House Pub.

I am a painter and weaver from Northern Ireland, based in South East London.
I trained as an oil painter in Dublin and London before combining my painting practice with textiles. Knitting, crochet, sewing and embroidery have always been in my life. My granny and my mother made their own garments. Eventually these crafts were bound to make their way into my work. My own weaving journey began in 2020 and I've been teaching on small looms and rigid heddle looms for the past 3 years. I enjoy sharing my passion for traditional crafts and I particularly love working with colour and texture to create unique artworks. I'm always amazed by the ideas my students bring to classes - everyone brings their own perspective.
I host small, welcoming workshops in my art studio in Catford, SE6.
I'll provide everything you need - materials and looms, tea and biscuits - but it's always nice if you have a meaningful cloth or yarn that you want to repurpose in your artwork.
