This makes for such a wonderful group activity for a Baby Shower! By the end of the workshop, the parents-to-be will have a completed mobile to take away* and suspend in their nursery. All parts are made from natural materials - wool, linen and bamboo.
Minimum of 10 (focused) and maximum of 25 participants. For smaller groups a simpler version of the mobile is recommended. Group less than 10 please contact me to discuss what is feasible - a version definitely will be!
Heather will show you how to create the charming animals for the mobile through a combination of short demonstrations and worksheets. She (and for larger groups, her assistant) will be there to support everybody, regardless of their needle felting experience, to complete their part of the mobile.
Participants will make the characters for the mobile both independently and in groups. This will depend on the number of participants and the complexity of the items being made. EG, for say the elephant, whilst one person creates the head and body another will make the limbs, ears, trunk tail etc. It much depends on whether you want to recreate the example.
*NB: It takes a good 30 minutes to construct the mobile, please let me know when booking the workshop whether you would prefer the mobile to be put together by me after the workshop and posted to the parents to be.
What’s behind the components in the example? They were chosen for their symbolism:
Teddy - Guardian Angel; Bunny with Carrot - Prosperity & Fertility; Lion - Bravery; Hedgehog - Self Protection; Penguin chick - Environment; Monkey - Fun; Elephant - Knowledge; Happiness & Loyalty; Owl - Wisdom; Sheep - Community and Sun, Moon, Star, Cloud and Tree - Heavens and Earth.
If you are looking for something a little different message me. I'm sure we can work something out.
My home studio can accommodate up to ten. If you are a larger group I can travel to you. More than 10 and need a venue? I can recommend The Distillery Room at The Four Thieves near Clapham Junction during the day.
Drink and food:
  • At my studio, there’ll be teas and biscuits. You are welcome to bring some fizz to drink at the end of the workshop.
  • At your venue, I’ll leave it up to you but recommend any eating and drinking (alcohol) is left until the end of the workshop!
What you'll get
  • All materials and equipment necessary to make their part of the mobile.
  • The parents to be will also get the completed mobile to take away (or posted).
NB: The number of parts on the mobile will very much depend on the number of participants at the workshop.
At my home studio teas and biscuits.
