Have you ever felt frustrated by previous art tuition, limited by a tutor’s experience, or unsure how to develop your own artistic direction? Whether you’re starting out, returning to practice, or building a cohesive series for exhibition, these one-to-one sessions are designed to give you both skill and vision.
Learn directly with award-winning artist Sarmed Mirza in his Glasgow studio. A working artist whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited nationally and internationally — including at the Scottish Portrait Awards, the John Moores Painting Prize (Stage Two), and the Paisley Art Institute — Sarmed combines atelier training with years of professional studio experience.
You’ll receive focused guidance across drawing, painting, and creative development — learning not just how to make stronger images, but how to think and see like a complete artist. Each session is tailored to you: strengthen foundations, explore abstraction, refine portraiture, or develop a consistent visual language for your portfolio or exhibition work.
Sarmed’s teaching blends precision, insight, and encouragement, helping students move past self-doubt and artistic blocks to discover genuine progress and purpose in their art.
All essential materials are provided for in-person lessons, and online options are available. These private sessions are ideal for adults and teens aged sixteen and above who are ready to grow their skills, creative direction, and artistic identity under the mentorship of a professional exhibiting artist.

Meet Sarmed: Artist, Teacher, and Creative Guide
I have dedicated my life to creativity, from writing and film to visual arts, with a journey marked by exploration and growth. Trained in classical realism at an atelier, I developed a deep appreciation for light, form, and technique. This foundation has led to recognition at the Paisley Art Institute (award winning), the Scottish Portrait Awards (finalist), the John Moores Painting Prize (second stage), and exhibitions both in the UK and abroad.
As a teacher, I blend structure with freedom. In my Drawing and Painting 101 to Advanced classes you will build solid foundations and surprise yourself with quick progress. In the popular Pour Painting class, students enjoy the playful flow of colour. In my six week Portraiture course, I guide students step by step from fundamentals to advanced realism.
My approach combines technical precision with an intuitive style, helping students find both joy and personal meaning in their art. Whether you are drawn to realism, abstract painting, or pour techniques, I create a supportive space for growth.
Join me to explore, experiment, and discover what is uniquely yours in art.
