Writing in the Wild Experience

Let nature inspire your writing in this guided creative writing session. We'll spend two hours mindfully walking through Chorlton Ees, noticing and connecting with the plants and birds we encounter, and stopping at intervals to note down things we observe and to do some creative writing in response. If it's too cold or rainy to spend the whole time outside, or to write outside, then we'll walk for the first hour and spend our second hour writing in the nearby pub The Bowling Green, recording what we've seen, heard, and felt, looking at some seasonal poems, and having a go at writing our own. We'll meet in the Ivy Green car park, opposite the Bowling Green pub. I'll bring along some poems and nature-themed prompts, as well as a book on British birds for reference. I'll also have extra pens and paper, so all you need to bring is yourself, a notebook, and something to write with. The session will finish with an optional sharing circle, where you can read anything you've written or share any thoughts you've had, if you feel comfortable doing so. Concession pricing is available, as I believe creativity should be accessible to everyone. In case of very wet weather, we will have a shorter walk and then head to The Bowling Green. Please bring suitable shoes for muddy walking, and a warm, waterproof coat.
