4 x 2.5 hours Class size 1 to 4     label £230

Looking to kick-start your pottery journey? Look no further than our 4-week ceramic wheel throwing class in Manchester! This workshop is perfect for beginners who have already had a taster class or are completely new to the art. We want you to make the most of your time with us, so our course is designed to be intense, personal, and tailored to your skills.

Running in the evenings, our workshop accommodates a maximum of 4 students per class, ensuring a focused and individualized learning experience. We provide up to 4 wheels, so you'll have your own dedicated space to work on.

These 2.5-hour sessions will cover all the basics of wedging and throwing shapes on the wheel. We'll place a strong emphasis on centring the clay and pulling walls, giving you a solid foundation to build upon. In week 2, you'll have the opportunity to throw up to 8 pieces on the wheel, with firing and glazing included in the course fees.

Week 3 will focus on trimming your pieces on the wheel and learning how to make and attach handles. Finally, in week 4, you'll learn the art of glazing with the option to explore dip glazes, brush-on glazes, or painting your pottery with underglazes. We encourage your creative freedom.

Once the course finishes, your pieces will be ready to collect 2-3 weeks later. Please note that due to the set dates and times of our courses, cancellation of a class cannot be rescheduled.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Join us for an engaging and transformative experience where you'll learn the art of wheel throwing and create beautiful pieces to cherish.

New Dawn Pottery represents a new beginning.

Life is an intense journey that keeps taking me to paths that I never thought I would walk. I have found great healing and passion in this beautiful art form. Spending my days making functional pieces of ceramics from a ball clay in my studio gives me so much joy and fascinates me. It’s been a very meditative journey that allows me to explore and express myself as an artist and who I am as a person.
