A chawan is a traditional Japanese tea bowl, prized for its role in traditional tea ceremonies, and this session gives you the chance to shape, personalise and fire a piece that's entirely yours.Guided by an experienced teacher, you'll learn the techniques behind crafting a chawan, from shaping the clay to choosing the glaze that gives your bowl its finish and character. Because no two chawans are ever quite the same, you're free to make each one your own, whether you're drawn to a rustic, textured look or something smoother and more refined. Fancy sipping your matcha from a cup instead? There's the option to create a matching teacup alongside your chawans, so you can build a complete, personalised tea set.This workshop works just as well solo as it does shared – switch off and enjoy some quiet, focused making time by yourself, or bring a friend and turn it into a fun creative outing together. Either way, you'll leave with a real feel for the craft and the beginnings of a one-of-a-kind keepsake to treasure.Please note: your pieces will need to be fired and glazed before they're ready to collect.
