Autumn-inspired Fused Glass Lantern Workshop

Make two fused glass panels for a large lantern suitable for indoor and outdoor use

2.5 hours

Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 4 to 10
  £65

Create a beautiful, functional piece of glasswork at this fused glass lantern workshop – a hands-on session where you'll design and make two bespoke glass panels to fit a 28cm black steel lantern, ready for use indoors or out with a pillar candle or fairy lights.
All tools and materials are provided, and there's no glass cutting required, making this a brilliant starting point for beginners and a satisfying project for more experienced fused glass makers alike. If you'd like to have a go at cutting techniques during the session, you're very welcome to – there'll be time to explore.
You'll have a rich selection of autumn-inspired glass elements to work with though you're equally free to go your own way and choose whatever palette feels right for you. You might even be tempted to create something for Christmas! Tea, coffee, and biscuits are on hand to fuel your creativity!
Once the workshop is done, your finished panels will be fired in the kiln and fitted into the front and back of your lantern. The completed piece will be returned to the venue within 7-10 days, ready for you to collect and take home – a one-of-a-kind handmade object that looks just as good lit up as it does sitting in the garden.

I’m Sue and my story with glass starts in a very similar way to yours if you are searching here with an interest in glass fusing. I tried a glass taster workshop at the school where I worked and was hooked! I dabbled, I made pieces for friends and then took a deep breath and bought a kiln! Fast forward five years, and here I am sharing my love for glass with others in my workshops, while remembering my beginnings and allowing you to take it at your pace with as much support as you need.
My inspiration is colour! My favourites are blues and greens but glass is sensational in any colour and when it comes out of the kiln, the end result always makes me smile.
