Experience the art of casting a Bronze Age sword in a one-day workshop in Pinner.

5.5 hours Class size 1 to 2 guests       £200 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Learn how to mould and cast your own Bronze Age replica sword in this intensive one-day workshop at my studio in NW London.
This practical activity is designed for those with some existing hands-on ability and confidence using tools. The day begins at 10:00 am with an essential introduction to bronze casting methodology and a full safety briefing. You will learn how to prepare an item for moulding and create your own sand mould, ready for casting. After a demonstration pour to ensure everyone is familiar with the process, you will get the chance to cast your very own sword.
The afternoon is dedicated to the hands-on process of finishing your cast – fettling, grinding, and smoothing the metal to reveal the sword within. At the end of the day, you will take home the replica sword you have made, along with a kit and instructions on how to fit a handle in your own time.
As the bulk of this workshop is spent outdoors, please dress for the weather in warm layers, full-length trousers (such as jeans), and sturdy, solid footwear. All necessary safety gear, including gloves, an apron, and a face shield, will be provided. The session runs until 3:30 pm, with breaks for tea and coffee. Please bring your own lunch; a microwave is available for you to use.
Please note that for safety and to ensure everyone gets detailed instruction, this workshop is limited to two participants. It is also weather-dependent, and in case of postponement, a minimum of 24 hours' notice will be given. This is a rare opportunity to engage with an ancient craft and create a truly remarkable object with your own hands.
