Starting buy a brief introduction on matcha culture and history, you will be tasting usucha with 3 rare matcha varieties all ritual/ ceremonial grades from all over Asia. Exploring different intensity of umami, and feeling all the different notes.
Kurinuki Cup Building
Hand-Build a Kuriniku style cup - a traditional Japanese technique. And learn about the aesthetic and philosophy of wabi-sabi. Immerse yourself in this slow and conscious craft time.
Colouring with Specialty Decorating Slip
You will have access to 4 choices of studio special decorating slip -- developed by our studio ceramicist. Decorating and personalize your unique Kurinuki cup.
- Matcha Ritual (50 min): Experience a range of matcha flavours in traditional usucha style — prepared simply with water, without milk or sugar. So you have the most direct expose to the delicate flavours of matcha.
- Learn about the aroma, texture, and complexity of matcha, with no prior knowledge required.
- Pottery Experience (60 min): Hands-on Kurinuki tea cup making, a centuries-old Japanese technique where a vessel is carved from a solid block of clay.
- Embrace the wabi-sabi philosophy of natural texture, imperfection, and form while shaping and carving your own tea cup.
- Step-by-step guidance provided, suitable for all levels.
