  • 5/5 from An Chen, attended Jun 2026: Great course! Alex explained everything clearly and thoroughly, giving us a solid understanding of laser cutting as well as plenty of hands-on experience.
  • 5/5 from Cintia Bertaccini, attended Jun 2026: I've had the laser cutting induction with Alex. I loved the facilities and equipments. The class was very informative and very well demonstrated and explained. I'll definitely return for more workshops and make amazing works using the laser cut machine.
  • 5/5 from Monica Capelastegui, attended Jun 2026: The course was very comprehensive and well explained. The environment was cooled, so I didn't feel the impact of the hot weather. I came well informed and had a chance to practice with the lasser printer and the software
  • 5/5 from Peter Bampton, attended May 2026: The class was really informative and helpful in steering me for my first project. We learnt about different materials and techniques, and got the opportunity to calibrate the machine and settings on the software to see how these impact the laser on the project. Alex was patient and knowledgeable and created a welcoming environment.
  • 5/5 from Stephen, attended Mar 2026: We wanted to learn a bit more about laser cutting before purchasing a machine, so signed up for the 2-hour training session. Alex gave us a warm welcome and we received a good overview of laser-cutting in general, including the training for how to use the one in the lab, as well as what we might encounter with our own laser cutter. We learnt how to set up the laser, as well as to make a basic pet name tag. As there were only two of us, there was lots of time to ask questions. In addition we are now certified to use the POW machine for our own projects. We really enjoyed the course - and now know a lot more about practical laser cutting!
  • 5/5 from George King, attended Feb 2026: Alex was super helpful! I was up and running and plan to use the workshop more in the future
  • 5/5 from Renata Fernadez, attended Feb 2026: I got to be introduce to laser cutting in a 2 hour session. POW have a great machine and organised, clean facilities. My background as a curious-multidisciplinary artist helped to absorb more the session, I must say that a more than basic knowledge in vector files, high resolution, illustrator or equivalent helps, and even a familiarity with a digital cutter, as all these come extremely handy when transferring skills to laser cutting. Alex, my facilitator, was calm, articulated, methodical as he should be. I’ve got told all the steps to set up the machine, and th very important why things had to be done at certain way. I’ve got to use 3 different kind of materias, and set up the machine from scratch by myself, and dabbed with the software. I feel confident to be able to go a hooked the machine and use it-sooner rather than later-. It cost £25 per hour to hire it afterwards, and you can order and get materials delivered to POW. There is a lot of testing to do with materias before settling in th right settings for a specific task, and this has to be considered when booking the machine. Overall I do recommend this course with POW, which was a most generous gift from my husband. I have my eyes set for other courses such as 3D designing and printing, as they have great facilities in the same room.
  • 5/5 from Me Nishit Patel, attended Jan 2026: The class was absolutely fantastic. I was lucky to be the only person on the course and so got a very personal lesson from Alex. I cannot wait to start creating. I can highly recommend the workshop. I’m sure it will inspire a lot of people in this area and beyond to be creative.
  • 4/5 from Reza Rashwandi, attended Dec 2025: * I attended the 2-hour laser cutting and engraving class to learn more about how laser machines work, as I am planning to start a small creative business in the future. * During the class, I was able to observe the full process of laser cutting on different materials such as wood and PVC. I learned how the machine operates, how designs are prepared, and how the cutting process is controlled. It gave me a good introduction, but I realised that I will need more hands-on practice to build confidence and learn the skills properly. * The teacher(Sean) was very patient, clear, and helpful. He explained everything step by step and answered all questions with great attention. His teaching made the session easy to follow and enjoyable. * The venue was well-organised and equipped with everything needed for the session. The tools and materials were prepared in advance, and the environment felt professional and welcoming. * I really liked seeing how the laser machine cuts different materials in real time. It was fascinating and motivating. The teacher’s calm and supportive approach was also a highlight. Overall, it was a very useful introduction and made me excited to learn more through longer, hands-on sessions. Many thanks, Reza
  • 5/5 from Ana, attended Nov 2025: Sean was a great teacher. We learned the theoretical and the practical behind laser cutters. He clearly explained the different settings we might want to look into, as well as how to make sure the system and the file are formatted for the laser. We took the time to test out some samples of different materials and do a little key chain. which gave us the opportunity to discuss issues we might encounter and how to fix/adjust. Overall his practical class and great advice made me more confident to go ahead planning a side business.
  • 5/5 from David Rowland, attended Oct 2025: Teaching on laser was excellent. He was fast, included so much but thorough The only thing I’d want is more teaching and practice

  • 5/5 from Thomas, attended Aug 2025: I loved the class. I had already done some research but the course helped fill in all the blanks. Our teacher Sean was great. He was really friendly and did a good job of introducing all the information. The workshop was lovely too. A nice place in which to learn. I liked making a test piece in order to see how everything worked and would definitely come back for further instruction.
  • 5/5 from Jim Brennan, attended Jul 2025: This intro course was an excellent overview of the technology with a huge amount of information presented in a very entertaining and punchy manner. Sean shared his vast knowledge through really good practical demonstrations, digital presentations and sample pieces. He answered all participant queries in an expert yet approachable manner with a host of examples from his own product design projects. The equipment at POW is top drawer and getting up close and personal with the machines capabilities was very rewarding. Highly recommended.

Gave great tips and advice, and the description of different uses really helped the imagination about what was possible. The workspace looks great, and live the idea of renting space by the hour/day etc. I will definitely be using the space for my designs.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended May 2025: We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and love the fact POW is an accessible space for all skill levels. Shanayah was knowledgable and understanding and we are looking forward to coming back.
