Embroider Your Own Linen Napkin Set – a Stitching Workshop

From doodle to dinner party – stitch your imagination onto linen.

3 hours Class size 1 to 12 guests       £40

Join us for a calming and creative embroidery workshop in London where you’ll stitch your own set of four linen napkins with personalised line drawings and words.
In this hands-on session, we’ll begin with a playful free-association drawing and writing activity to help you brainstorm words and illustrations you might want to feature on your napkins. Think doodles, everyday objects, or personal symbols – anything from a little egg to the name of a place you love.
Once you’ve come up with your designs, you’ll trace them onto dissolvable stabiliser – a magical material that sticks to fabric and disappears in water – making it easy to stitch over your drawings without marking the fabric itself.
You’ll learn backstitch and cross-stitch (with tips on thread blending, outlining, and spacing), and then you'll be free to relax into mindful stitching. Whether you're a total beginner or looking for a creative reset, this workshop offers a joyful way to get into embroidery.
You'll leave with:
  • 4 12% linen napkins
  • An embroidery hoop
  • A needle and full selection of embroidery threads
  • Your in-progress napkins and the skills to finish them at home
Expect thoughtful making, playful expression, and lots of slow stitching.
At Something Good Workshops, we have a fully stocked bar with a great mix of drinks - from craft beers and cocktails to soft drinks and tea and coffee - so you can sip, snack, and have a proper good time! Got any special requests or dietary needs? Just let us know, we’ve got you covered!

Hi, we’re Emily and Jess, the creative minds behind Something Good Workshops!
Our journey began in 2019 when Emily launched Something Good Workshops (originally known as MADEptford) as a way to spread crafty joy and raise funds for running the London Marathon. What started as a one-time idea quickly grew into a passion for bringing people together through creativity. Since then, we’ve hosted a wide variety of workshops, from arm knitting to body casting, in all kinds of spaces - corporate offices, cosy pubs, pop-up shops, and even people’s homes.
After taking a short break, we’re back with fresh energy and an exciting new partnership. Jess has joined the team, and together, we’re on a mission to spark joy and empower people to explore their creativity in relaxing, welcoming spaces. We believe there’s something magical about slowing down, working with your hands, and leaving with something you’ve made yourself - whether it’s a chunky knit blanket, a personal shrine, or a collage bursting with personality.
What makes us unique? We’re all about creating an environment where people feel at ease, whether they’re a total beginner or a seasoned maker. Over the years, we’ve held workshops in so many different settings, and one thing always stands out: the joy people feel when they realize just how creative they can be.
We’re not just here to teach a craft - we’re here to help you unwind, have fun, and leave with a tangible reminder that you’re capable of making something good.
We can’t wait to meet you at a workshop soon!
