Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Lisa Jukes, attended Aug 2026: Hi Chrissie was friendly, very approachable, patient and very informative. I would recommend to others.
  • 5/5 from Julia Denyer, attended Jul 2026: Chrisy was so helpful! She had all the knowledge and experience to be able to explain all the questions and quirks I was having and to give me some extra tips about the type and age of cotton to use, the best way to sew straight lines and the gadgets I would need that I don't yet have - like a little magnetic guide. She was very thorough and patient and when it turned out that there's a fault with my machine she wrote to the local Branch for me and advised them of my situation. I feel very much supported, assisted, understood and I learned a load of cool hints on how to set the tension of the machine, what was the usual stitch length, how to judge the quality of the cotton I have, how to clean the parts where the bobbin goes, how to use the backwards button to seal the ends of the sewing and many more useful gems of information. Thank you Chrissy, so much for all your help and wisdom bestowed.

  • 5/5 from Jane Gilmour, attended Nov 2025: Chrissie is the perfect person to advise on sewing problems. I've not used my machine in a long while and it felt quite alien! However, I feel much braver now and look forward to finishing my project, with Chrissie's help. Thank you very much Chrissie!
  • 5/5 from Trisha, attended Oct 2025: I attended a sewing online 121 with Chrissie Ellson. Before the session, I provided information about what I wanted to achieve. Chrissie was responding to all the planned objectives. She was able to take me through the planned outcomes and also added other useful tips. I loved how personalised this session was as Chrissie was super knowledgeable about the subject and provided answers to all my questions. Chrissie was approachable and created a fantastic rapport and I felt I have learnt things so much quicker than looking things up myself. It was such a good value for money and a fabulous experience. I have shared this with all my crafting friends and I cannot recommend it enough. It was great to hear that if I ever need a follow up with Chrissie, I can request to have her as tutor at the next meet up. Lovely!

  • 5/5 from Sandra Burke, attended Aug 2025: Hannah was a marvellous coach - so friendly and patient. I was able to ask lots of questions. I wanted to learn how to thread my new overlocker and by the end of the session I was doing just that. I was previously quite nervous about using an overlocker successfully but now I am raring to go! My only query (nothing to do with Hannah) is why I couldn't use my Hobbycraft birthday gift vouchers to pay for the session. It's bizarre to me that the coaching sessions are promoted and booked on the HC website but you can't use their gift vouchers. That was very disappointing.

Really enjoyed the hour and looking forward to exploring on my machine. Thank you
