An Introduction to Flint Knapping Workshop

Time travel to the Stone Age!

5 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £85 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Step back in time and master one of humanity's oldest survival skills in this immersive flint knapping workshop. Under expert guidance, you'll learn the ancient art of transforming raw flint into precise tools and implements, just as our ancestors did thousands of years ago.
This intensive workshop combines practical skills with fascinating archaeological insights. You'll begin your journey with a compelling introduction to the history and significance of flint knapping, followed by essential safety protocols and technique demonstrations. Through careful instruction, you'll discover the subtle art of reading stone, understanding fracture patterns, and crafting your own tools using traditional methods.
The afternoon sees theory transform into practice as you select your flint and begin the deeply satisfying process of creating your own stone tools. Every piece you craft is yours to keep—tangible connections to our prehistoric past.
Safety is paramount in this heritage craft. We provide comprehensive protective equipment and maintain small class sizes for individual attention. This workshop is exclusively for adults (18+) who appreciate the need for careful attention to detail and safety protocols.
Please dress appropriately for this outdoor experience: sturdy boots, full-length trousers, and weather-appropriate layers. All materials and safety equipment provided, along with refreshments throughout the day.
Note: Due to the nature of the craft, this workshop is unsuitable for those with blood disorders. Sorry!

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
