Enjoy a relaxed, beginner-friendly needle felting workshop as you create your own tiny “pocket pet.” In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to transform soft wool fibres into a firm, sculpted form and turn it into an adorable handmade animal brooch.
Your “pocket pet” will be full of character, shaped by your own choice of colours and features. Whether you’d like to create a cat, dog, or a more imaginative little creature, you’ll be guided step by step throughout the process. No prior experience is needed—this workshop is designed to be approachable, enjoyable, and gently paced:
  • Design your “pocket pet” – Start by sketching your animal with a simple template to guide you. You’re welcome to bring along your own ideas or reference images.
  • Felt and bring it to life – Build up the shape, layer colours, and add features to give it personality. Follow along with gentle guidance and tips throughout.
Your session takes place at A Touch of Craft Yorkshire, a bright and airy studio with a welcoming atmosphere. There’s a cosy kitchenette where you can grab a tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and a few biscuits via the honesty box. With free on-site parking and plenty of space to get hands-on, it’s a lovely spot to switch off and discover a new skill.

Hi, I’m Kiu — the artist behind artLaiga Studio.
I run relaxed, beginner-friendly creative workshops across Leeds and West Yorkshire, where enjoying the process is just as important as what you make.
Before founding artLaiga Studio, I worked in art education for over 10 years. During that time, I developed a passion for helping people translate ideas into finished pieces through clear, step-by-step guidance. Whether participants are complete beginners or experienced makers, my aim is to make the creative process approachable, enjoyable, and rewarding.
I love teaching because making allows us to transform ideas and feelings into something you can see, touch, use, or even wear. Every piece is uniquely yours, and seeing people feel proud and happy when their ideas come to life is what keeps me inspired to teach.
Alongside workshops, I create handmade ceramic accessories and homeware, with selected pieces stocked at ChillChillCats Goodies & Craftroom in Leeds Corn Exchange. My sessions are calm, supportive, and pressure-free, with plenty of creative freedom and encouragement along the way.
Workshops are held at various venues across the region, and I also offer workshop delivery at your venue, ideal for team-building events, private groups, community organisations, schools, and special occasions.
