Take your journaling practice further with this inspiring follow-on class, designed to build on the basics while remaining accessible to everyone—whether you’ve attended our beginner session or not. We’ll explore how to create beautiful and functional month title pages, complete with seasonal illustrations to reflect the time of year and add a personal, creative touch to your journal. You’ll also learn how to lay out a clear and practical monthly calendar, helping you stay organised while expressing your style.

In addition, we’ll guide you through designing a dedicated birthdays page that’s both useful and visually engaging, so you never miss an important date. There’s no need to purchase a kit for this workshop—simply bring along your favourite notebook and pens or pencils. If you’d prefer, we’ll also have a selection of recommended materials available to purchase using the links below, so you can experiment with new tools and ideas.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Recent reviews of Journaling Class: Titles, Calendars and Creative Pages

  • 5/5 from Ruth, attended Oct 2026: This was a lovely class that felt very relaxing; journaling is something I will try to find time for at least once a week now, as I found it very grounding and calming. You don't need a lot of artistic skill to create a big impression (though if you are talented, you can also create really beautiful designs). While the session was relaxing, the Hobbycraft artisan covered a lot of content, gave ideas for inspiration and pointers on where to find more on the Hobbycraft website, which I thought was brilliant. It was a really well-thought out class that has got me excited to dig out my lettering materials that I used in a previous workshop and to search online for further inspiration. I actually use a printed planner day to day, but I now have lots of ideas for adding embellishments and making it a joy to look at.
  • 5/5 from Jane Charlotte Allen, attended Oct 2026: Lovely host, easy to follow, it was at a nice steady pace and lots of ideas to try.
  • 5/5 from Terri Wisbey, attended Sep 2026: Loved this class, and Gisela enthusiasm was infectious! Really helped with giving me ideas for how I want to do my journal going forward. Highly recommend.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Sep 2026: Interesting with lots of ideas for inspiration. I enjoyed the different types of lettering but would like t spend more time on how to do a monthly page.
  • 5/5 from Helen Feeney, attended Aug 2026: Really enjoyed the journaling workshop. The pace was perfect. I would have liked it to be another 30 minutes just so we could have included ‘notes’ and ‘to do list’ pages, but that shouldn’t detract from what we did as that was just great
  • 5/5 from Yvonne, attended Jul 2026: Really enjoyed the workshop which was informative and relaxing. Gisela’s passion for journaling shines through and she gave lots of ideas to inspire. I really enjoyed thinking of images and doodling them for each month. Good value class and accessible with items at home to hand. Wrong video was sent after the class but other than that all was great thanks.
  • 5/5 from Suzanne Jones, attended Jul 2026: A great class, very informative and gave me the confidence to make a start a bullet journal.
  • 5/5 from Fiona, attended Jul 2026: I really enjoyed this class and I found it very relaxing. Gisela gave us lots of different ideas about how to make the journaling personal to you. After the class finished I started doing a title page for a month based on some of the ideas in the class. I have added a photo. This still needs to be finished as I have more details that I want to add.
  • 5/5 from Pats, attended Jul 2026: Gisela was a fantastic teacher. Very enthusiastic and engaging. The pace was just right to practise ideas and try new things. I felt more confident to just have a go by the end. Thank you Gisela for a lovely, relaxing afternoon.

  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jul 2026: Really enjoyable with a lot of useful tips but felt a little rushed towards the end- would have maybe liked this to be 30 minutes longer to get more time to go through all the examples.
