Step off the cobbled streets of Oxford and into the warm glow of our kitchen for The Oxford Masala Club, a supper-club-style experience where you’ll cook, dine, and connect. Inspired by the golden age of the spice route, this is where Oxford’s historic charm blends with the warmth of a South Asian home.
Hosted by us, Nyla and Aysha (the Spice Sisters), this is more than a cooking class. It’s a wonderful activity where you will learn hidden recipes passed down through our family. In this workshop, you’ll roll rotis, stir fragrant curries, and share a candle-lit feast in our home – part supper club, part storytelling session.
This experience focuses on our family’s simple and soulful North Indian vegetarian recipes. You’ll learn how to cook and then enjoy:
  • Aloo tikki – crisp, golden potato patties spiced with herbs and served with tangy chutney
  • Tadka dal – golden lentils tempered with cumin and garlic, a comforting staple from our childhood
  • Palak paneer – creamy spinach curry with soft cubes of paneer, delicately spiced and deeply satisfying
  • Fresh roti – hand-rolled and flame-finished right before your eyes
  • Kheer – a cardamom-infused rice pudding, slow-stirred to silk, finished with nuts
The experience takes place in our home kitchen in Botley, Oxford. Each session hosts up to six guests, creating an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is welcome at our table – no experience is required, just curiosity and an appetite.
This is your invitation to slow down, savour every bite, and feel at home. You'll leave with new recipes and cherished memories, feeling wonderfully uplifted by this unforgettable evening of flavour and friendship.

  • 5/5 from Louise Burfitt, attended Feb 2026: Nyla and Aysha are incredibly warm, generous and knowledgeable hosts. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and at ease. The teaching space is spacious, well-equipped and beautiful. We learned so many delicious recipes and helpful tips, but even better was the sense of cooking and eating with new friends - we just felt so welcome and at home despite having just met our fellow class members and teachers and that is a testament to their down-to-earth, genuine warmth and generosity. We loved that we got to cook something, pause to eat it and then carry on cooking - we thought this was a lovely touch and avoided any hangry moments! The class ended in a communal meal eating the dishes we had cooked and lots of conversation alongside. A very memorable and wonderful day we'll be thinking of for years to come! Thank you Spice Sisters :)
  • 5/5 from Matt, attended Feb 2026: Had a wonderful time making great food in a welcoming home with two very friendly, funny, sarcastic sisters. What's not to like?
  • 5/5 from Denzil Underwood, attended Feb 2026: A really delightful, informative and enjoyable experience. Charming, welcoming hosts who got us all involved and engaged throughout the creation of our lunch. An empty stomach a real necessity since the food was scrumptious and over eating was simply inevitable. I would love to join a supper evening where eating and conversation go hand in hand..a perfect combination. Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Madeleine, attended Jan 2026: Highly recommend this experience - Aysha and Nyla are incredible hosts and very welcoming. We learnt a lot including some tips and tricks… all topped off with fantastic food that you can even take home to share! It was such a beautiful atmosphere thank you so much to you both!
  • 5/5 from Pascal Kaienburg, attended Jan 2026: Fantastic class! We learned a lot of handy tips that we can directly apply for our next session of South Asian cooking. Aysha & Nyla were absolutely lovely hosts and created a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are still enjoying the leftovers from the delicious dishes a day later.
  • 5/5 from Omi McKie, attended Nov 2025: Thoroughly enjoyed the class and the overall experience. The teachers were great.
