Cutting and Shaping
You'll be shown how to set up your workstation and prepare your tools. Then you'll be guided through cutting, texturing and conditioning.
Preparing for Firing
Once your piece is refined it will be ready for firing. You will be shown the different firing methods and receive a demo on torch firing.
Polishing and Finishing
You'll finally polish your work, attach a chain and a bail and it's all ready to wear.

Your teacher
Pepper Tree Studio is the perfect place to discover the magical world of jewellery made with silver clay. The studio was set up by award winning metal clay artist, Richard Allen and Lesley Willard and their silver clay taster and themed workshops cater for all skill levels, from the absolute beginner to the more advanced. From a personalised one to one session or time with some friends up to a team building corporate experience.Although our studio is based in the Victoria Dock area of Hull in East Yorkshire, we hold workshops all over the North of England (and sometimes further afield!) Come and join us on one of our workshops, we know you'll have a lot of fun.Both Richard and Lesley regularly showcase their designs in London and have had work displayed in Poland and Japan. The couple were awarded The People's Choice Award for Collection of the Year at The Professional Jeweller Awards 2025 and have now been made finalists for the UK Jewellery Awards 2026.
