Pepper Tree Studio, the home of Metal Clay Academy, is the perfect place to discover the magical world of jewellery made with silver clay. The studio was set up by award-winning metal clay artist, Richard Allen, and his fellow tutor, Lesley Willard, as the base for their award-winning metal clay company. Their silver clay taster and themed workshops cater to all skill levels, from the absolute beginner to the more advanced. From a personalised one-to-one session or time with some friends up to a team-building corporate experience, Metal Clay Academy will bring you an amazing jewellery-making experience.

What's more, Metal Clay Academy has recently been awarded the highly respected NAJ Endorsed status by the National Association of Jewellers for their Metal Clay Launchpad Courses. This is in recognition of NAJ trusted training and education.

Although our studio is based in the Victoria Dock area of Hull in East Yorkshire, we hold workshops all over the North of England (and sometimes further afield!). Come and join us in one of our workshops; we know you'll have a lot of fun.

Both Richard and Lesley regularly showcase their designs in London and have had work displayed in Poland and Japan. They were awarded The People's Choice Award for Collection of the Year at The Professional Jeweller Awards 2025 and were finalists for several awards in 2026, including the UK Jewellery Awards, The NAJ Awards, The Yorkshire Choice Awards, The Small Business Awards, and, once again, The Professional Jeweller Awards.
