Textile Block Printing Workshop

Learn, experiment, and create with textile block printing in Oxford!

2 hours Class size 1 to 4 guests       £27

Do you remember when you used to play with colours as a child, mixing paints freely, drawing random shapes, and creating without hesitation? In this printing workshop in Oxford, you will be invited to return to that sense of playful creativity, this time through the art of block printing.
You will be introduced to textile block printing using pre-carved lino blocks in a variety of designs, from florals to geometric patterns. This will allow you to explore, experiment, and mix and match designs freely.
After the demonstration that happens first, you will begin by testing ideas on paper, getting comfortable with colours, composition, and repetition. Once you feel ready, you will move on to fabric and create your final piece to take home. The print will be permanent and washable once the fabric is ironed.
Throughout the session, you will be encouraged to play with what you have, embrace imperfections, and discover how even the simplest block can transform into a beautifully layered pattern.
What you'll get
You will receive all materials needed for the session, including pre-carved blocks, colours, tools, and a cotton tote bag to print your final design on and take home.
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly.
What to bring
  • Feel free to bring your own cotton/linen fabrics, including t-shirts, that you want to work on.

Growing up surrounded by maximalist arts and crafts and constantly observing the interplay of colours, textures, and different art forms, I have always been fascinated by the individuality and endless possibilities within creative practices. Eventually, I found myself inclined towards printmaking, which opened up a vast and limitless platform for me to explore and express myself.
Coming from India, my journey has been deeply shaped by observing, understanding and documenting the richness of handicraft and handloom craft clusters. I have immersed myself deeply in this world and always wanted to share this experience with a wider audience — the experience of working with your hands, experimenting with colours, and allowing yourself to explore creatively without hesitation. It is about expressing yourself unapologetically, embracing imperfections
