Teenager Silversmithing Course - Reading

A fun course to learn how to make jewellery whilst learning basic silversmithing skills.

2 hours Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 5 to 15 label £45

This course has been designed for teenagers interested in learning how to make their own silver jewellery, along with learning basic silversmithing skills.

This course is suitable for absolute beginners to people with some prior experience who may wish to build on the skills they already have.

During the day you will learn how to use silver & copper to make various ring shapes, before deciding on your final ring shape. Your final choice rings can be left plain, stamped or textured, before being buffed to a high shine finish.

During the session students will complete one copper and 1 Silver ring.

Time permitting additional silver can be purchased to make more rings at a cost of £15.00 per ring.

The skills you will learn during the workshop are how to shape, anneal, solder and curing the different metals to make a variety of rings.

This workshop is very interactive and continued support is offered throughout the day, whilst at the same time allowing students to work independently.

The course runs for 2 hours but on occasions can slightly over run, to enable students to fully complete their ring or rings.

Hi my name is Carol. I started my jewellery journey at the tender age of 13, learning how to make beaded jewellery, before moving onto wire wrapping and eventually silversmithing.

I had spent many years teaching before deciding to open my very own jewellery academy, where I could teach the jewellery subject areas I wanted to teach.

In 2019, I finally took the plunge and La Jade Jewellery Academy was created, allowing me to teach what once started as my hobby and later turned into my passion..

La Jade Jewellery Academy currently runs courses in various locations across Reading and Merseyside.
